Xingcheng
Xingcheng (), former name Ningyuan (), is a county-level city of southwest Liaoning province, China, with a population of approximately 140,000 urban inhabitants, and is located on the Liaodong Bay, i.e. the northern coast of the Bohai Sea. Currently under the administration of Huludao City, the area is steeped in history, and contains one of the best preserved Ming Dynasty towns in China, as well as functioning as a laidback summer resort. Historical Importance Xingcheng has a long and distinguished history, and was established as a county as far back as the Liao Dynasty in CE 990. Anding District, Dingxi
Anding () is a District of the People's Republic of China, district of the city of Dingxi, Gansu province, People's Republic of China. The area of Anding District has been inhabited since the neolithic era, with sites of the Majiayao culture and Qijia culture being discovered in the area. Dingxi city was established in 1096 as a military base of the northern Gong state. By 1142 it became a county and by 1216 Dingxi became the seat of a prefecture. In 2003, Dingxi County became Anding District as it is currently known. Located entirely on the Loess Plateau, the economy of Anding District is primarily based around agriculture. Ningyuan, Sichuan
Xichang, formerly known as Jiandu, Jianchang and Ningyuan(fu), is a city in and the seat of the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, in the south of Sichuan, China. In 2012 it had a population of 481,796. History The Qiongdu were the local people at the time of contact with China. The county of Qiongdu is attested in the area from the Han dynasty. Battle Of Ningyuan
The Battle of Ningyuan () was a battle between the Ming dynasty and the Later Jin dynasty in 1626. The Later Jin had been waging war on the Ming for several years, and their leader Nurhaci had deemed Ningyuan to be a suitable target for his attack, in part due to advice from a Ming defector, Li Yongfang. Later Jin failed to take the city and Nurhaci was wounded in the assault, dying eight months later. The Ming emerged victorious, marking a temporary resurgence of the Ming army after an eight-year-long series of defeats. Background The Ming had suffered a series of defeats against the Jurchens prior to 1626 and lost the key city of Shenyang in 1621 and the port city of Lüshun in 1625.
