Nineteenth Government Of Israel
The Nineteenth government of Israel was formed by Menachem Begin on 5 August 1981, following the June elections. Begin included Likud, the National Religious Party, Agudat Yisrael, Tami and Telem in his coalition, which held 63 of the 120 seats in the Knesset, and the cabinet had 17 ministers. On 26 August Tehiya joined the coalition, and the number of ministers rose to 18. Moshe Arens
Moshe Arens (27 December 1925 – 7 January 2019) was an Israeli aeronautical engineer, researcher, diplomat and Likud politician. A member of the Knesset between 1973 and 1992 and again from 1999 until 2003, he served as Minister of Defense three times and once as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Mordechai Tzipori ( he, מרדכי צפורי, 15 September 1924 – 29 May 2017) was an Israeli politician who served as Minister of Communications from 1981 until 1984. Biography Born Mordechai Bankovich-Hendin in Petah Tikva during the Mandate period, Tzipori attended a religious school in his hometown. In 1939 he joined the Irgun, and in 1945 was arrested by the British authorities and exiled to Africa. He was interned in British detention camps in Eritrea, Kenya and Sudan, where he was involved in digging escape tunnels. He was sent back to Israel after its independence in 1948, and became a professional soldier, serving in the IDF from 1948 until 1976.
