Nina Ricci is a fashion house founded by Maria "Nina" Ricci and her son Robert in Paris in 1932, and owned by the Spanish beauty and fashion group Puig since 1998. History and Operations The haute couture house was founded in 1932. Nina Ricci designed gowns while her son Robert Ricci managed the business and finances. She worked with the fabrics directly on the mannequin to ensure they had shape once they were finished. Nina Ricci designs soon became known for the refined, romantic, always feminine feeling Maria adds to all of her collections. In 1941, Robert Ricci created an in-house perfume division. Jacques Fath
Jacques Fath (6 September 1912 in Maisons-Laffitte, France – 13 November 1954 in Paris, France) was a French fashion designer who was considered one of the three dominant influences on postwar haute couture, the others being Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain. The playwright Georges Fath was his great-grandfather. Career The son of André Fath, an Alsatian-Flemish insurance agent, Fath came from a creative family. His paternal great-grandparents, Caroline and Georges Fath, were fashion illustrators and writers, and his paternal grandfather, Rene-Maurice Fath, was a landscape painter. Elvie Hill
Elvie Hill (1917 – 31 July 2018) was an Australian fashion designer. Career Elvie Hill established an eponymous label in the 1940s in Melbourne and became well known for her elegant and feminine designs. She dressed some of Australia's best known women, including Lady Sonia McMahon and Dame Pattie Menzies, and was also known for her boutiques in Melbourne (her boutique on the "Paris-end" of Collins Street stayed open until 1991). Jules-François Crahay
Jules-François Crahay (1917–1988) was a Belgian-born French fashion designer who worked for the houses of Nina Ricci (1952–1963) and Lanvin as head designer (1963–1983). He won the Neiman Marcus Fashion Award in 1962. Early life Crahay was born in Liège. His mother, Francoise Crahay, was a Belgian couturier who gave her son his first experience as a sketcher for her when he was 13. Between 1934 and 1936, he studied art and fashion in Paris before rejoining his mother in the business. During the Second World War Crahay was a non-commissioned officer in the Belgian Army before being captured and spending five years as a prisoner-of-war in Germany. Career After the War, Crahay opened his own haute couture house in Paris in 1951, but it was unsuccessful. Betty Clemo 莫蘭詩 (1920–2005) was a Hong Kong-based fashion and costume designer active in the 1950s until the end of the 1990s. Early life Elizabeth 'Betty' Borjin Chernyshyova 'Charnuis' Clemo Yen was born in Beijing in 1920. Her father was Mongolian, belonging to the Mongolian Borjigit clan. Her mother, Yekaterina (Catherine) Chernyshyova was Russian, and apprenticed for Jeanne Lanvin in Paris.
