''Nina'' is a 1959 French comedy film directed by Jean Boyer and starring Sophie Desmarets, Olivier Hussenot and Agnès Laurent.Singer p.539 The film is based on the 1949 play of the same title by André Roussin. It was shot at the Billancourt Studios in Paris. The film's sets were designed by the art director Jean d'Eaubonne. Synopsis A husband plans to shoot the man having an affair with his wife, but both come to realise their desire to escape the tyrannical woman in their lives. Jean Poiret
Jean Poiret, born Jean Poiré (17 August 1926 – 14 March 1992), was a French actor, director, and screenwriter. He is primarily known as the author of the original play '' La Cage aux Folles''. Early career Poiret was born in Paris, and first rose to prominence in 1951 playing the role of Fred Transport, one of the heroes of Pierre Dac and Francis Blanche's radio series ''Malheur aux Barbus''. In 1952, he met his future co-star of ''La Cage'' Michel Serrault at the Sarah Bernhardt Theatre. Together, they starred in the sketch "Jerry Scott, Vedette Internationale". In 1961, Poiret, as a member of the French cinematic society Pathé, wrote and recorded ''La Vache à Mille Francs'', a parody of ''La Valse à Mille Temps'' by Jacques Brel. Pierre Tornade (21 January 1930 – 7 March 2012) was a French actor. He appeared in more than 120 films and television shows between 1956 and 1998. Biography He was born Pierre Tournadre on 21 January 1930 in Bort-les-Orgues in the department of Corrèze. He began his theatrical career at 25 in ''Elle est folle, Carole'' at the théâtre du Palais-Royal. In 1956, he played in the musical comedy ''Irma la douce'' by Alexandre Breffort and Marguerite Monnot and then made his film debut in ''Les Truands'', where he adopted his stage name, Tornade. Michel Serrault (24 January 1928 – 29 July 2007) was a French stage and film actor who appeared from 1954 until 2007 in more than 130 films. Life and career His first professional job was in a touring production in Germany of Molière's ''Les Fourberies de Scapin''. In 1948, he began his career in the theatre with Robert Dhéry in '' Les Branquignols''. His first film was ''Ah! Les belles bacchantes'', starring Robert Dhéry, Colette Brosset (Dhéry's then-wife), and Louis de Funès; directed by Jean Loubignac in 1954. Serrault played in the 1955 suspense thriller '' Les diaboliques'', starring Simone Signoret and directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot. From February 1973 through 1978, he portrayed the role of Albin/Zaza opposite Jean Poiret in the play '' La cage aux folles'', written by Poiret.
