Nils Turesson Bielke
Nils Turesson Bielke (5 November 1569 – 17 December 1639) was a Swedish statesman, member of the privy council, son of Ture Pedersson Bielke. Career Nils Turesson Bielke was an ardent supporter of Duke Carl which rewarded his fidelity in 1602 when he became ''Kansliråd'', deputy director of the kingdom; in 1605 he became governor of Tallinn and its province, in 1606 member of privy council and in 1608 judge. In addition, both he and his brother Svante Turesson Bielke were raised to rank of barons. Treaty of Knäred He was a Swedish delegate at the peace negotiations which preceded the peace of Knäred in the 1613 after the Kalmar War. Hörningsholm Castle
Hörningsholm Castle ( sv, Hörningsholms slott) is a manor house and former castle in Sweden. It is located on a cliff by an inlet of the Baltic Sea some kilometres from Södertälje. The castle was most probably built by the Sture family during the late 15th and early 16th century, was burnt to the ground by Russian troops in 1719 and rebuilt in its present shape by architect Carl Hårleman. It was renovated in 1919-20 by architect Ivar Tengbom. History The foundations of the presently visible building, including the basements, date from a castle that was erected on the cliff most probably at the end of the 15th century, when the land was owned by Nils Bosson Sture. The history of the estate, however, goes even further back, although earlier there was no fortification on the site. Assessor (law)
In some jurisdictions, an assessor is a judge's or magistrate's assistant. This is the historical meaning of this word. In common law jurisdictions, assessors are usually non-lawyers who sit together with a judge to provide either expert advice (such as on maritime matters) or guidance on local practices. The use of assessors nowadays is quite rare. In some jurisdictions, such as Fiji, assessors are used in place of juries. An assessor's opinion or view of a case is not binding on a judge. The term "assessor" is also very generally applied to persons appointed to ascertain and fix the value of rates and taxes, and in this sense the word is used in the United States (see Assessor (property)). Civil law jurisdictions In France and in all European countries where the civil law system prevails, the term ''assesseur'' is applied to those assistant judges who, with a president, compose a judicial court. Svante is the shortening for the Swedish male first name Svantepolk. It originates from Slavic ancestors of first prominent Svantes in Sweden. The Slavic languages have the name which is rendered as Sviatopolk in Russian, Swiãtopôłk in Kashubian, Świętopełk in Polish and Svatopluk/Svätopluk in Czech and Slovakian.
