Nikos Goumas
Nikos Goumas ( el, Νίκος Γκούμας; 1908 – 17 August 2001) was a Greek businessman who served as the twelfth president of AEK Athens F.C. from 1956 until 1963. He was considered one of the "patriarchs" of the club. Early life Goumas was born Andros. Ηe was involved mainly with the ship owning business. President of AEK Athens From a young age he was involved in the administration of AEK Athens, before the war, and participated in the administration of the club until his mature years. He envisioned the upgrade of AEK's stadium in Nea Filadelfeia in the 1950s and when he became their president in 1956, he expanded and modernized with two small platforms and a shack for changing rooms, to the most modern of its time. With the completion of the works in late 1961, the stadium could accommodate more than 40,000 spectators. A.E.K ( el, AEK , formally Αθλητική Ένωσις Κωνσταντινουπόλεως; Athlitikí Énosis Konstantinoupόleos, ''Athletic Union of Constantinople''), known as A.E.K, is a major Greek multi-sport club based in Nea Filadelfeia, Athens. Nea Filadelfeia
Nea Filadelfeia ( el, Νέα Φιλαδέλφεια, meaning ''New Philadelphia'') is a suburb of Athens, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Filadelfeia-Chalkidona, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 2.850 km2. It was named after the Anatolian city Filadelfeia, now Alaşehir in Turkey, and it was settled by Greek refugees from Asia Minor after the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922). Geography Nea Filadelfeia is a suburb of Athens, north of the city centre. Mimis Papaioannou
Dimitrios "Mimis" Papaioannou ( el, Δημήτριος "Μίμης" Παπαϊωάννου; born 23 August 1942) is a Greek former professional football player, who played as a forward, mostly for AEK Athens and a former manager. His nickname was "The Vlach" ''(Greek: "ο Βλάχος")'', due to his origin. Throughout his entire career, Papaioannou was never shown a single red card, showing the prudence and integrity of his character. Papaioannou was considered to be the best Greek footballer of his generation and one of the best Greek footballers of all time, being awarded the best Greek footballer of the 20th Century by IFFHS. Nikos Goumas Stadium ( el, Στάδιο Νίκος Γκούμας) was a multi-purpose stadium in Nea Filadelfeia, a northwestern suburb of Athens, Greece. It was used mostly for football matches and was the home stadium of AEK Athens F.C. It is now replaced by Agia Sophia Stadium built at the same site.
