Eastern Slavic naming customs are the traditional way of identifying a person's given name and patronymic name in Russia and some countries formerly part of the Russian Empire or the Soviet Union. Alexander Matveevich Nikonov (Russian: Александр Матвеевич Никонов; 31 August 1893 – 26 October 1937) was a Soviet komdiv (division commander). He fought in the Imperial Russian Army during World War I before going over to the Bolsheviks in February 1917 and serving in the Red Army durimg the subsequent Civil War. Gennadiy Nikonov
Gennadiy Nikolaevich Nikonov (russian: Геннадий Николаевич Никонов; August 11, 1950 – May 14, 2003) was a Russian gun engineer. His most famous accomplishments were probably as the designer of the AN-94 assault rifle, and the "straight-back bolt." Nikonov held 44 Copyright Certificates, and was awarded the titles of "The Best Designer of the Company" and "The Best Designer of the Ministry." In memory of the outstanding designer, a memorial plaque on the building design and weapons center of "Izhmash" (2003), and at the place of his burial (2007). Vyacheslav Nikonov
Vyacheslav Alekseyevich Nikonov (; born 5 June 1956) is a Russian political scientist. He is a grandson of Vyacheslav Molotov, prominent Bolshevik and Soviet foreign minister under Joseph Stalin, whom he was named after, and Polina Zhemchuzhina, a Soviet politician. Nikonov graduated from the History Department of Moscow State University in 1978 and has been studying the history of the Republican Party in the United States after World War II. He has been involved in Soviet and Russian politics since the 1970s, first as a local Komsomol leader, later in the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and as a member of Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin, and Vladimir Putin's staff. In 1993, Nikonov was elected to the State Duma. In 2005, he published an early biography of Molotov (in Russian). Yevgeny Nikonov
Yevgeny Alexandrovich Nikonov (russian: Евге́ний Алекса́ндрович Ни́конов; 18 December 1920 – 19 August 1941, in Harku, Estonia) was a Russian sailor during the Soviet defense of Estonia in 1941. He is a holder of the Hero of the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union's highest award. Life and death Nikonov was born on 18 December 1920 into an ethnically Russian peasant family in the village of Vasilyevka in what is now Stavropolsky District of Samara Oblast. He joined the navy in 1939 and served as a torpedo electrician on the destroyer leader ''Minsk'' attached to the Soviet Baltic Fleet.
