Nikolai Nevrev
Nikolai Vasilyevich Nevrev (russian: Никола́й Васи́льевич Не́врев; 1830, Moscow – 3 May 1904, Mogilev Governorate) was a Russian painter who specialized in genre and historical scenes. Life Nevrev was born to a family of merchants. His first art lessons came from his stepfather, who was a drawing teacher. Oprichnik (russian: опри́чник, , ''man aside''; plural ''Oprichniki'') was the designation given to a member of the Oprichnina, a bodyguard corps established by Tsar Ivan the Terrible to govern a division of Russia from 1565 to 1572. Foundation Some scholars believe that Ivan's second wife, the Circassian Maria Temryukovna, first had the idea of forming the organization. Metropolitan Philip
Saint Philip II of Moscow (11 February 1507 – 23 December 1569) was the Metropolitan of Moscow and all Rus' from 1567 to 1568. He was the thirteenth Metropolitan in Moscow to be appointed without the approval of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople as had been the norm. He was one of a few Metropolitans who dared openly to contradict Ivan the Terrible. It is widely believed that the Tsar had him murdered on that account. Grigory Lukyanovich Skuratov-Belskiy (russian: Григорий Лукьянович Скуратов-Бельский), better known as Malyuta Skuratov () (? – January 1, 1573) was one of the most odious leaders of the Oprichnina during the reign of Ivan the Terrible.
