Nikka Whisky Distilling
The is a producer of Japanese whisky and other beverages headquartered in Tokyo. It is owned by Asahi Group Holdings. The company operates a number of distilleries and other facilities in Japan, including two Japanese whisky distilleries, the Yoichi distillery in Yoichi, Hokkaidō (established in 1934), and the Miyagikyo distillery in Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Northern Honshū (established in 1969). It also owns the Ben Nevis Distillery (acquired in 1989) in Scotland. History The founder, Masataka Taketsuru, travelled to Scotland in 1918 to learn the process of distilling Scotch whisky first hand. He studied organic chemistry under Prof. T. S. Domenica "Nikka" Costa (born 4 June 1972) is an American singer whose music combines elements of pop, soul, and blues. She also had a career as a child singer starting in the early 1980s. She is the daughter of music producer Don Costa. Early life Nikka Costa was born in Tokyo, Japan. Her father, Don Costa, was a producer and musician. During her childhood, Costa was surrounded by famous musicians and traveled around the world with her father. At age five, Costa recorded a single with Hawaiian singer Don Ho. Italian producers, Danny B. Nikka Vonen (14 November 1836 – 29 November 1933) was a Norwegian educator, folklorist and author. Personal life Vonen was born in Dale i Sunnfjord to blacksmith, gunsmith, watchmaker, farmer and guesthouse host Bertel Johannesson Vonen and midwife Berthe Helene Skjærdal. Career Vonen's first folklore tales were printed anonymously in 1865–66, and she had 24 tales printed in ''Dølen'' in 1868–69, under the headers "Æventyr fraa Sunnfjord" and "Segner fraa Sunnfjord, fortalde av gamle Synnve". Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden
is a garden near Henderson Lake in Lethbridge, Alberta, designed by Dr. Masami Sugimoto and Dr. Tadashi Kubo of Osaka Prefecture University in Japan. The pavilion, shelter, bridges and gates were built in Kyoto, Japan, by five artisans who later reassembled them in the garden. It was opened July 14, 1967, during the Canadian Centennial celebrations. History In the early 1960s, Lethbridgian Reverend Yutetsu Kawamura, a minister of Buddhist churches in Alberta, and Cleo Mowers, editor and publisher of the Lethbridge Herald, were independently considering the possibility of a Japanese garden being built in Lethbridge.
