Niilo Taapopi
Niilo Kambwa Taapopi (born 8 January 1953) is a Namibian politician who served as Chief Executive Officer of the City of Windhoek from 2004 to 2014, after the resignation of businessman and former CEO Martin Shipanga. He also served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, and as chairperson of the Polytechnic of Namibia management council. Taapopi, a member of SWAPO, fought for the independence of Namibia and was known by his guerrilla pseudonym Kambwa Kashilongo during the liberation struggle. He was Commissar for the 1st Mechanised Brigade of the People's Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN) and a member of the SWAPO Military Council. Taapopi was sent on a diplomatic mission as a senior diplomat to Sweden. SWAPO
The South West Africa People's Organisation (, SWAPO; af, Suidwes-Afrikaanse Volks Organisasie, SWAVO; german: Südwestafrikanische Volksorganisation, SWAVO), officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia, is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. Founded in 1960, it has been the governing party in Namibia since the country achieved independence in 1990. The party continues to be dominated in number and influence by the Ovambo ethnic group. SWAPO held a two-thirds majority in parliament from 1994 to 2019. In the general election held in November 2019, the party won 65.5% of the popular vote and 63 out of the 104 seats in the National Assembly. It also holds 28 out of the 42 seats in the National Council. The ''New Era'' is a daily national newspaper owned by the government of Namibia. The newspaper is one of four daily national newspapers in the country, the others being ''The Namibian'' (English and Oshiwambo), ''Die Republikein'' (Afrikaans) and '' Allgemeine Zeitung'' (German). ''New Era'' was created by the ''New Era Publications Corporation Act of 1992''. According to Ullamaija Kivikuru, it copied the format of ''The Namibian'' in order to establish credibility. Okahao
Okahao is a town in the Omusati Region of northern Namibia and the district capital of the Okahao electoral constituency. It is situated in the Ongandjera tribal area west of Oshakati on the main road MR123 (Outapi — Tsandi — Okahao). It is a former mission station of the Finnish Missionary Society. The area around Okahao is flat, arable land which is mainly used for subsistence farming. Okahao is the largest town in Ongandjera, the birthplace of Namibia's founding president Sam Nujoma.
