''Nightmares of the Decomposed'' is the thirteenth studio album by American death metal band Six Feet Under, released on October 2, 2020, by Metal Blade Records. It is the first album to feature ex-Cannibal Corpse guitarist Jack Owen. Reception The album received mixed to negative reviews, which criticize the album's production and songwriting. Chris Barnes's vocal performance on the album was heavily criticized, with the performance being described by ''All About the Rock'' as "lacking intensity and punch, to say they are lethargic and fatigued would be generous". Six Feet Under is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1993. The band consists of five members: founding vocalist Chris Barnes, guitarists Ray Suhy and Jack Owen, bassist Jeff Hughell and drummer Marco Pitruzzella. It was originally a side project formed by Barnes with guitarist Allen West of Obituary, but became a full-time commitment after Barnes was dismissed from Cannibal Corpse in 1995. Jack Owen
Jack Owen (born December 6, 1967) is an American guitarist and a member of the death metal band Six Feet Under. He was one of the founding members of Cannibal Corpse. He stayed with the band from their formation in 1988 until 2004 when he left because he wanted to move on, as stated in the '' Centuries of Torment'' DVD. Later that year though, he was hired by Deicide—another influential and long-running Florida death metal band—with whom he recorded four albums. He left the band in 2016. In 2007, Owen played shows with Adrift before joining Order of Ennead at times when their guitarist, John Li, was unavailable. In 2009 Owen played guitar for a white power band Attack on their album ''Fade Away'', though he claimed it was merely session work and he was not informed of their racist beliefs beforehand. Jeff Hughell
Jeff Hughell (born December 4, 1979) is the former bassist for Asylum, Vile, and Brain Drill and the current bassist for Six Feet Under and Reciprocal. He has released four solo albums and has played bass on multiple records as a session player. Hughell is currently endorsed by Warwick bass guitars, Seymour Duncan pickups and Dean Markley strings. He is a prominent user of seven-string bass guitars. Hughell also plays guitar and piano. Chris Barnes (born December 29, 1967) is an American death metal vocalist. He is noted for his low guttural vocals and explicitly violent lyrics. He was the co-founder, original lead vocalist and songwriter of Cannibal Corpse from 1988 to 1995, later working as part of Six Feet Under, and has appeared on Torture Killer's second album ''Swarm!'' Barnes designed the original Cannibal Corpse logo, the Six Feet Under logo and also created the artwork for ''Warpath'', released in 1997. Career Early career Barnes started his career at the age of 19. His first band was a death/thrash band called Tirant Sin, which was formed in 1986 in his hometown of Buffalo, New York.
