Nighthawks (Nighthawks Album)
''Nighthawks'' is the only studio album by American hip hop duo Nighthawks, which consisted of rappers Cage (rapper), Cage and Camu Tao. It was released on November 26, 2002 under Eastern Conference Records. The album is a rap opera concept album. Background ''Nighthawks'' came to be through Cage's love for police movies. It puts Cage and Camu Tao in the personas of fictional police detectives "Deke DaSilva" and "Matthew Fox". The album was created in a one-week creative binge. Music The album is mostly produced by Camu Tao and DJ Mighty Mi, with one song's production by DJ Trueskillz. Guest appearances include Tame One, Metro of S.A. Smash, Space and The High & Mighty. Rap Opera
A rap opera or hip hopera is a musical work in hip hop style with operatic form. The terms have been used to describe both dramatic works and concept albums, and ''hip hopera'' has also been used for works drawing more heavily on contemporary R&B than other hip hop such as rap. Etymology The word ''hip hopera'' is a portmanteau of ''hip hop'' and ''opera''. An early use of the phrase was a 1994 album of that name by Volume 10 (although not a concept album). The High & Mighty
The High & Mighty is an American hip hop duo from Philadelphia, composed of rapper Mr. Eon ("The High", b. Erik Meltzer on February 16, 1972) and music producer DJ Mighty Mi ("The Mighty", b. Milo Berger on September 1, 1972). Career Their commercial debut was in 1999 on the underground rap label Rawkus with their album, '' Home Field Advantage'', featuring rappers, such as Mos Def, Kool Keith, What? What?, Cage, Pharoahe Monch, Evidence of Dilated Peoples, Defari, Thirstin Howl III, and Eminem. They later left Rawkus, distributing the records issued by their own record company Eastern Conference Records via Landspeed Records. Rahem Ross Brown (March 20, 1970 – November 6, 2022), better known by his stage name Tame One, was an American hip hop recording artist and graffiti artist from New Jersey. He was a member of Artifacts, Leak Bros, and the hip-hop supergroup The Weathermen.
