''Nightbreed of Macabria'' is the sixth studio album by the band Theatres des Vampires. This album is their first to not contain any black metal influence and is credited as a pure goth metal release. This was also frontman Lord Vampyr's last album with Theatres des Vampires. It is a concept album dealing with the fictional world of Macabria. The album was highly influenced by the works of American film producer Tim Burton. Theatres des Vampires is an Italian gothic metal band, mostly noted for the predominant theme of vampirism within their lyrics. The band's early material was credited as melodic black metal or symphonic black metal, but the group completely abandoned all black metal influence by the mid-2000s. Theatres des Vampires have released eleven full-length albums. History and background Theatres des Vampires was formed in 1994 by Alessandro "Lord Vampyr" Nunziati, after leaving the band VII Arcano because of stylistic differences. Problems with the initial lineup of Theatres des Vampires meant that the first full-length studio album, Vampyrìsme, Nècrophilie, Nècrosadisme, Nècrophagie (1996) was recorded single-handedly by Alessandro "Lord Vampyr" Nunziati. Gothic Metal
Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. Alessandro Nunziati (born 16 September 1972), better known by his stage name Lord Vampyr, is an Italian musician, record producer and writer, famous for being the former vocalist of the gothic metal band Theatres des Vampires, as well as one of its founding members. Biography Nunziati was born in Rome, Italy on 16 September 1972. As a teenager, he studied accounting and computer programming at the II° liceo artistico di Roma, and also graduated in Psychology at the Sapienza University of Rome. His first musical ventures were with the death-doom band Sepolcrum, formed in 1988 and of which he served as the vocalist. Sepolcrum released three demo tapes before changing its musical style to thrash metal and its name to VII Arcano in 1995. In 1994, after recording a last extended play with VII Arcano that would be released in the following year, Nunziati left the band to form Theatres des Vampires.
