Night Of The Meek
"Night of the Meek" is the first segment of the thirteenth episode from the first season (1985–86) from the television series ''The Twilight Zone''. It is a remake of the original ''The Twilight Zone'' series episode, "The Night of the Meek", about a drunken department store Santa (played by Richard Mulligan) who finds a magical sack that can create presents and becomes a real-life Santa Claus. The title is almost unchanged from the original episode, even though the monologue from which the title was derived was replaced. Plot On Christmas Eve Henry Corwin, a department store Santa Claus, takes his dinner break at a local bar, complaining to the bartender that many children will not have presents for Christmas, and wishes he had more money left to spend on alcoholic drinks. The Twilight Zone (1985 TV Series)
''The Twilight Zone'' is an anthology television series which was constructed from September 27, 1985 to April 15, 1989. It is the first of three revivals of Rod Serling's acclaimed 1959–64 television series, and like the original it featured a variety of speculative fiction, commonly containing characters from a seemingly normal world stumbling into paranormal circumstances. Unlike the original, however, most episodes contained multiple self-contained stories instead of just one. The voice-over narrations were still present, but were not a regular feature as they were in the original series; some episodes had only an opening narration, some had only a closing narration, and some had no narration at all. The multi-segment format liberated the series from the usual time constraints of episodic television, allowing stories ranging in length from 8-minutes to 40-minute mini-movies. In this segment, a secretary travels to an alternate dimension where secretaries are revered in a manner similar to A-list movie stars and fashion models in the real world. Plot Karen Billings is an overworked, underappreciated secretary. Her colleague Marcy is studying to be a lawyer and encourages Karen to change career paths as well, but while Karen loathes her current boss, she loves being a secretary. "I of Newton" is the second segment of the twelfth episode from the first season (1985–86) of the television series ''The Twilight Zone''. The teleplay was based on a short story by Joe Haldeman which first appeared in the June 1970 issue of ''Fantastic Stories'' magazine (Volume 19, no. 5). It is a play on the deal with the Devil motif, in which a mathematician completely involuntarily makes a pact to sell his soul and must win a battle of wits with a demon in order to get out of it. Plot Sam is a college professor frustrated at his multiple failures to solve a complex mathematical equation, angrily exclaiming, "I'd sell my soul to get this thing right!" A demon appears and says that despite being an idle remark in a conditional mood, Sam's statement still constitutes a binding contract. He intends to sell Sam's soul to otherworldly bidders.
