Nigerian Presidential Inauguration
The inauguration of the president of Nigeria is a ceremony to mark the commencement of a new four-year term of the president of Nigeria. During this ceremony, some 90 to 95 days after the presidential election, the president takes the presidential oath of office. The inauguration takes place for each new presidential term, even if the president is continuing in office for a second term. The first inauguration of Shehu Shagari took place on 1 October 1979 the independence day of Nigeria. Since the beginning of the fourth republic in 1999, all inaugurations have been held on 29 May. The most recent presidential inauguration was held on 29 May 2019, when Muhammadu Buhari resumed his second term in office. Mahmud Mohammed
Mahmud Mohammed (born 10 November 1946) is a Nigerian jurist and Chief Justice of Nigeria from 2014 to 2016. Early life Justice Mohammed was born on November 10, 1946 in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, northeastern Nigeria. He obtained a Bachelor of Law degree at Ahmadu Bello University in 1970 and was called to the Nigerian bar, the same year he graduated from the Nigerian Law School. Law career He joined the services of the Ministries of Justice of the defunct North-eastern state as a barrister and in 1991, he became the acting Chief judge of Taraba State, the same year his appointment was confirmed as the Chief Judge of the state. In 2005, he was appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court of Nigeria as Justice. Idris Legbo Kutigi
Idris Legbo Kutigi (31 December 1939 – 21 October 2018) was a Nigerian lawyer and jurist. He was Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Niger State before becoming a high court judge. He joined the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1992 and served as Chief Justice from 30 January 2007 to 30 December 2009. Early life and education Born in Kutigi, North-Western State (now located in the Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State), Kutigi attended elementary school in that town and middle and secondary school in Bida. He then moved on to Government College (now known as Barewa College), and then to Ahmadu Bello University (both in Zaria, Kaduna State). Mohammed Lawal Uwais (born 12 June 1936) is a Nigerian Jurist who was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria from 1995 to 2006. He chaired a commission that published a controversial report on electoral reform. Uwais is the son of the Chief Alkali, and later Waziri of Zaria emirate.
