Nigel Watts (author)
Nigel Kevin Watts (21 October 1919 – February 17, 1995) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s. Playing career Watts was a schoolboy rugby union start from St. Josephs College, who went on to star for the Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union club before embarking on a brief rugby league career at St. George during World War II. As he had never played Rugby League before, the residential-rule did not apply to Watts, who was a resident of Bondi at the time. Watts was in the Australian Army during his time at the Saints, although after he was discharged from the Army, he moved to a captain/coach role in the Illawarra competition in 1946. Enmore, New South Wales
Enmore is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Enmore is located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south-west of the Sydney central business district and is part of the local government area of Inner West Council. Like Newtown, Enmore is mostly comprises Victorian era buildings, namely in its commercial area, that provide a hint of the suburb's rich cultural heritage. History Enmore was named after Enmore House, built in 1835 by Captain Sylvester Browne, a master mariner with the British East India Company. Browne named his house after the Guyana estate of a business associate, the head of James Cavan & Co, which in turn took its name from Enmore in Somerset, England. New South Wales Country Rugby League Team
The Country New South Wales rugby league team is a representative rugby league football team. Between 1987 and 2017 there were two tiers: the Origin team that consisted of professional players who originated from clubs of the Country Rugby League and a representative team of amateur and semi-professional players. The Country Origin team played annually in the City vs Country Origin competition against the City New South Wales rugby league team, which was made up of players originating from Sydney. This match was discontinued in 2017. The representative team has played in a number of formats over the years: quad and tri series, annual fixtures and tour matches. The most recent change is the introduction of an Under 23 age limit to the top representative team. The Country Rugby League was absorbed by the New South Wales Rugby League at the end of 2019. Great Britain National Rugby League Team
The Great Britain national rugby league team represents Great Britain in rugby league. Administered by the Rugby Football League (RFL), the team is nicknamed The Lions. For most of the 20th century, the Great Britain team toured overseas, played against foreign touring teams and competed in the Rugby League World Cup, which they won three times: in 1954, 1960 and 1972. Since 1995, the RFL has sent separate home nations teams to the World Cup. Great Britain continued to compete as a Test playing nation both home and away. They competed against Australia for the Ashes, and New Zealand for the Baskerville Shield, as well the Tri-Nations series with both Australia and New Zealand.
