Nigel Hess
Nigel John Hess (born 22 July 1953) is a British composer, best known for his television, theatre and film soundtracks, including the theme tunes to ''Campion (1989 TV series), Campion'', ''Maigret (1992 TV series), Maigret'', ''Wycliffe (TV series), Wycliffe'', ''Dangerfield (TV series), Dangerfield'', ''Hetty Wainthropp Investigates'', ''Badger (TV series), Badger'' and ''Ladies in Lavender''. Biography Hess was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. He was educated at Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College, Weston-super-Mare Grammar School for Boys, and went on to study music at Cambridge University, where he was Music Director of the famous Footlights Revue Company. He has since worked extensively as a composer and conductor in television, theatre and film. Chameleon (British Band)
Chameleon was a vocal group founded in 1989 by Ivor Novello Awards, Ivor Novello Award-winning composer Nigel Hess, and featuring former The Swingle Singers, Swingle Singers member Olive Simpson (soprano), Lindsay John (alto), Jeremy Taylor (tenor), Michael Dore (baritone) and David Beavan (bass). They were best known for performing the theme tunes to several British television programmes, in particular ''Summer's Lease (TV series), Summer's Lease'', starring John Gielgud and Susan Fleetwood, and for their cover versions of popular folk music. Chameleon's debut album ''Saylon Dola'' won the Music Retailers Association award for "Best MOR Vocal Album" and was re-issued in 2005 to celebrate the group's 15th anniversary. Weston-super-Mare
Weston-super-Mare, also known simply as Weston, is a seaside town in North Somerset, England. It lies by the Bristol Channel south-west of Bristol between Worlebury Hill and Bleadon Hill. It includes the suburbs of Mead Vale, Milton, Oldmixon, West Wick, Worlebury, Uphill and Worle. Its population at the 2011 census was 76,143. Since 1983, Weston has been twinned with Hildesheim in Germany. The local area has been occupied since the Iron Age. It was still a small village until the 19th century when it developed as a seaside resort. A railway station and two piers were built. In the second half of the 20th century it was connected to the M5 motorway but the number of people holidaying in the town declined and some local industries closed, although the number of day visitors has risen. The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is a major British theatre company, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is a British symphony orchestra based in London, that performs and produces primarily classic works. The RPO was established by Thomas Beecham in 1946. In its early days, the orchestra secured profitable recording contracts and important engagements including the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the concerts of the Royal Philharmonic Society. After Beecham's death in 1961, the RPO's fortunes declined steeply. The RPO battled for survival until the mid-1960s, when its future was secured after a report by the Arts Council of Great Britain recommended that it should receive public subsidy. A further crisis arose in the same era when it seemed that the orchestra's right to call itself "Royal" could be withdrawn.
