Nigar Awards
The Nigar Awards ( ur, , translit=Inʿām Negār, lit=Picture Awards) were presented in an annual award show to recognize outstanding achievement in Pakistani cinema. The honors are awarded by Nigar Magazine founded in 1948. The Nigar Awards are Pakistan's version of the Academy Awards. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists. The first Nigar Awards ceremony was held in 1957, to honor the accomplishments of Pakistani cinema for the year 1956. In 2002, following the 46th Annual Nigar Awards, Nigar Magazine announced its discontinuation of the awards due to the collapse of the Pakistani cinema industry. After a 15-year hiatus, with the revival of Pakistani cinema, the 47th Nigar Awards were announced to be held on 16 March 2017 in Karachi. Nigar Rafibeyli
Nigar Khudadat qizi Rafibeyli ( az, Nigar Xudadat qızı Rəfibəyli) (1913–1981, Baku) was an Azerbaijani writer and the Chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan. She was the mother of Anar Rzayev, novel and short-story writer, and wife of famous writer and poet Rasul Rza. Early life Nigar Rafibeyli was born on 23 June 1913 in the town of Ganja. Her parents were medical surgeons. Her father, Khudadat Rafibeyli was the first Azeri surgeon who had studied in Europe. In 1919, he was invited to head the Ganja government by the republican government of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, but he was soon arrested at instigation by Armenian bolsheviks and sent to Nargin island, where he was executed by bolshevik soldiers. Nigar Rafibeyli finished her school in Ganja and moved to Baku for her higher education. She studied at Pedagogical Technical School. She taught at school but always wrote novels. ''Nigga'' () is a colloquial and vulgar term used in African-American Vernacular English that began as a dialect form of the word ''nigger'', an ethnic slur against black people. The word is commonly associated with hip hop music and African-American gang culture. In dialects of English (including standard British English) that have non-rhotic speech, ''nigger'' and ''nigga'' are often pronounced the same. Negar Khan (born 18 July 1984; also credited as Nigar Khan) is an Iranian-born Norwegian actress. She is best known for her Bollywood item songs and film work. Personal life Khan is fluent in the Persian, Azeri, Norwegian, English and Urdu languages. Nigar Sultana (21 June 1932 – 21 April 2000) was an Indian actress who worked in Hindi films. She appeared in '' Aag'' (1948), '' Patanga'' (1949), '' Sheesh Mahal'' (1950), '' Mirza Ghalib'' (1954), '' Yahudi'' (1958), ''Do Kaliyaan'' (1968), etc. but she is most notably remembered for playing the role of "Bahar begum" in the historical epic film '' Mughal-e-Azam'' (1960). Nigar Huseyn Afandi gizi Shikhlinskaya, née Gayibova ( az, Nigar Hüseyn Əfəndi qızı Şıxlinskaya; October 10, 1871 or March 21, 1878 in Tiflis – August 15, 1931 in Baku) was the first Azerbaijani nurse. She was fluent in several languages, including Russian and French''Azerbaijani Soviet Encyclopedia'' (1987), vol. 10, p. 551 and served on the Western Front of World War I, where she opened the Red Cross hospital. Nigar Nazar (; born 1953) is a Pakistani female cartoonist. Her best-known character, Gogi, is an urban Pakistani woman struggling with her frailties in the context of sexist social norms. The character was created to educate people about social and educational advocacy problems. She is the chief executive officer of Gogi Studios.
