Nieuwkuijk
Nieuwkuijk is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Heusden, about 10 km west of 's-Hertogenbosch. History The village was first mentioned in 1383 as Niewekuyc, and means "new settlement of Cuijk". The family of Cuijk used to own land in the area. Castle Onsenoort was built in 1382 by the ''heer'' of the ''heerlijkheid'' Nieuwkuijk. In the 19th century, it became part of the Cistercian monastery Mariënkroon. The tower probably dates from the 14th century. The building of the monastery were built in 1910. The main building and gate were added between 1934 and 1935. In 2016, the abbey closed down. It is nowadays in use as a conference centre. Castle d'Oultremont probably originates from the 15th century. In 1707, it became owned by the counts of d'Oultremont. Vlijmen
Vlijmen is a town in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Heusden, about 6 km west of 's-Hertogenbosch.''ANWB Topografische Atlas Nederland'', Topografische Dienst and ANWB, 2005. Vlijmen was a separate municipality between 1821 and 1997. It was created from part of the former municipality Vlijmen en Engelen. After Haarsteeg and Nieuwkuijk were added to it in 1935, Vlijmen as municipality ceased to exist when it became part of Heusden in 1997. Heusden
Heusden () is a municipality and a town in the South of the Netherlands. It is located between the towns of Waalwijk and 's-Hertogenbosch. The municipality of Heusden, including Herpt, Heesbeen, Hedikhuizen, Doeveren, and Oudheusden, merged with Drunen and Vlijmen in 1997, giving the municipality its current form. s-Hertogenbosch (), colloquially known as Den Bosch (), is a city and municipality in the Netherlands with a population of 157,486. Cuijk
Cuijk (; dialect: ''Kuuk'') is a town in the northeastern part of the province of North Brabant, Netherlands. It is the successor of a Roman settlement on the west bank of the Meuse, 13 km (8 mi) south of Nijmegen. Cuijk, which had a population of 18,170 as of 2020, was the centre of an eponymous municipality, which ceased to exist on 1 January 2022, when it was replaced by the larger Land van Cuijk municipality. Origin of the name The name Cuijk seems to be derived from the Celtic ''Keukja'', meaning curve or bend. This refers to a bend in the Meuse near Cuijk.
