Niels Larsen Stevns
Niels Larsen Stevns (9 July 1864 – 27 September 1941) was a Danish painter and sculptor. He was originally educated as a journeyman painter but attended Kunstakademiet in the years 1886–1887 and 1892–1894. He assisted Joakim Skovgaard decorating the cathedral in Viborg in a simplified style, based on early Christian and Byzantine art. Vendsyssel Kunstmuseum
Vendsyssel Kunstmuseum, formerly '' Hjørring Kunstmuseum'', is a state-subsidised art museum in Hjørring, which was founded in 1963 and has a collection of 19th and 20th century art mostly from North Denmark. The museum's collection contains works by the painters Svend Engelund (1908–2007), Johannes Hofmeister (1914–90), Poul Winther (1939–2018) and Poul Anker Bech ( 1942–2009). In addition to major works by the mentioned artists, the museum's collections includes works by Agnete Bjerre (b. 1924), Anna Maria Lütken (1916–2001), Poul Ekelund (1921–76 ), Arne L. Hansen (1921–2009), Søren Elgaard (b.1951), Emil Gregersen (1921–93), Frede Christoffersen (1919–87 ) et al. The museum was founded in 1963. Thorvaldsen Medal
The Thorvaldsen Medal (Danish: Thorvaldsens Medalje, Thorvaldsen Medaillen) is awarded annually with few exceptions to a varying number of recipients by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and is its highest distinction within the visual arts. It is named after the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The medal was founded in 1837 as the Exhibition Medal and awarded for talented works in the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in the Charlottenborg Palace. Sorø Abbey
Sorø Abbey was the preeminent and wealthiest monastic house in all of Denmark during the Middle Ages. It was located in the town of Sorø in central Zealand. After Denmark became Lutheran in 1536, the abbey was confiscated by the Crown. The abbey was turned into the Sorø Academy in 1623, an educational institution that has served as a knight academy, a venue for higher learning during the Danish Golden Age. It survives to date as a boarding school. History The Sorø Abbey was founded by the brothers '' Ebbe Skjalmsen Hvide'' and ''Asser Rig (Hvide)'', who were sons of Skjalm Hvide.
