Nicolás Martínez (born 20 June 1984) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a defender for Fénix de Pilar. Career Martínez started his career in 2004 with Deportivo Morón of Primera B Metropolitana, remaining for five years whilst scoring two goals in eighty-two fixtures. 2009 saw the defender agree to join Acassuso, which was followed by a stint with Flandria a year later. On 1 August 2011, Martínez joined Argentine Primera División side Tigre. He failed to make a league appearance throughout 2011–12, but did feature four times in the club's run to the Copa Argentina quarter-finals; where they lost 2–1 to Deportivo Merlo, with Martínez netting their only goal. He was also on the bench for their 2012 Copa Sudamericana finals second leg loss to São Paulo. Morón () is a city in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires, capital of the Morón ''partido'', located in the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area, at . Primera Nacional (usually called simply Nacional B, in English "National B Division", and known as Primera B Nacional until the 2019–20 season) is the second division of the Argentine football league system. The competition is made up of 37 teams. It is played by teams from all over the country. Clubs from Buenos Aires surroundings, as well as some from Santa Fe Province, are promoted from or relegated to the Primera B Metropolitana ("Metropolitan B Division") while for teams from the other provinces the Torneo Federal A ("Federal A Tournament") is the next level down. The 2017–18 Argentine Primera B Nacional is the 33rd season of the Argentine second division. The season began in September 2017 and ended in June 2018. Twenty-five teams competed in the league, seventeen returning from the 2016–17 season, four teams that were relegated from Primera División and two teams promoted from Federal A and B Metropolitana. Competition format The league's format changed from the previous season. Twenty-five teams play each other once for a total of twenty-four matches each. The 2013-14 season, is the 29º Primera B Metropolitana season since it became part of the third tier of the Argentine football league system. The tournament is reserved for teams directly affiliated to the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA), while teams affiliated to AFA through local leagues (known as "indirectly affiliated to AFA") have to play the Torneo Federal A, which is the other third tier competition. For this season, AFA decided to change the structure in the Argentine football league system, and exceptionally 3 teams will be promoted to the next season of Primera B Nacional and there will be no relegations for this season. The Copa Argentina (English: ''Argentine Cup''), officially known as the "Copa Argentina AXION energy" due to sponsorship reasons, is an official football cup competition organized by the Argentine Football Association (AFA), with the aim of qualifying one club to the Copa Libertadores.
