Ryan Taylor (politician)
Ryan M. Taylor (born July 22, 1970) is an American politician. A member of the Democratic-NPL Party, he served as the North Dakota State Senator from the 7th district from 2003 to 2013. Taylor spent his final two years as minority leader. He left the North Dakota Senate to run for the governorship, but was defeated by incumbent Republican Jack Dalrymple in the general election. Early life, education, and early career Taylor is a fourth-generation North Dakotan, raised by his parents Marshall ("Bud") and Liz Taylor on a ranch near Towner, N.D., in McHenry County. Wayne Stenehjem
Wayne Stenehjem ( ; February 5, 1953 – January 28, 2022) was an American lawyer and politician from the U.S. state of North Dakota. He was the Attorney General of the state, serving from December 15, 2000 until his death. He sought the Republican nomination for governor of North Dakota in 2016 but lost the primary on June 14 by 20%. Biography Stenehjem was born in Mohall, North Dakota. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1971 and Bismarck State College in 1972. He attended the University of North Dakota and the UND School of Law, graduating in 1977. Stenehjem was elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 1976, and served two terms there until 1980, when he was elected to the North Dakota Senate. The 2016 North Dakota gubernatorial election was held on November 8, 2016, to elect the Governor and Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota, concurrently with the 2016 U.S. presidential election, as well as elections to the United States Senate, elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. North Dakota Senate
The North Dakota Senate is the upper house of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly, smaller than the North Dakota House of Representatives. Per the state constitution, North Dakota is divided into between 40 and 54 legislative districts apportioned by population as determined by the decennial census.
