2004 French Open
The 2004 French Open was the 108th edition of the tournament. Gastón Gaudio became the first men's Open Era Grand Slam title winner to save two match points in the final; the last time that had happened was 70 years earlier. Gaudio also became the first Argentina, Argentine man since Guillermo Vilas to win a Grand Slam (tennis), grand slam, in 1979. Nicolas Tourte (born 18 August 1979) is a professional tennis player from France. Biography Born in Chambéry, Tourte is a right-handed player, with a double handed backhand. Tourte, who won three Challenger doubles titles, made the singles final of the Grenoble Challenger tournament in 2006, during which he had wins over Ernests Gulbis and Gilles Müller. Édouard Roger-Vasselin (; born 28 November 1983) is a French professional tennis player who primarily specialises in doubles. Sébastien René Grosjean (; born 29 May 1978) is a French former professional tennis player. Grosjean reached the semifinals at the 2001 Australian and French Opens, and at Wimbledon in 2003 and 2004. Gerald Melzer (born 13 July 1990) is a professional Austrian tennis player. As a qualifier, he reached the semifinals of Munich in 2015. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 68 in November 2016. He is the younger brother of top Austrian tennis player Jürgen Melzer (hence his nickname, Mini Melts) and is the son of Rudolf Melzer, an Austrian businessman and mayor of Deutsch-Wagram, and Michaela, a saleswoman.
