Nicolas Limbach
Nicolas Limbach (born 29 December 1985) is a German fencer, world champion in 2009 and team world champion in 2014. He won the Fencing World Cup in 2008–2009, 2009–2010 and 2011–2012. Biography Limbach was born in a family closely involved in fencing: his father directs the fencing section of TSV Bayer Dormagen and his younger sister Anna also fences for Germany. He took up the sport at the age of six. In 2005, Limbach won a gold medal in the individual and the team events of the Junior World Championships in Linz. The same year, he climbed his first podium in the Fencing World Cup with a victory in Athens and he joined the national senior team. At the 2005 European Championships, he reached the quarter-finals. At the 2007 World Fencing Championships, he won the bronze medal after losing to Italy's Aldo Montano. Eupen
Eupen (, ; ; formerly ) is the capital of German-speaking Community of Belgium and is a city and municipality in the Belgian province of Liège, from the German border (Aachen), from the Dutch border (Maastricht) and from the "High Fens" nature reserve (Ardennes). Rareș Dumitrescu
Rareș Dumitrescu (; born 24 December 1983 in Brașov) is a Romanian sabre fencer, World silver medal in 2009. With the Romanian team he was European champion in 2006, World champion in 2009 and Olympic team silver medal in 2012. Personal life Dumitrescu discovered fencing at age ten by circumstance: his mother, a teacher, had a pupil whose father was a fencing coach. He began training at his local club CS Tractorul under Cătălin Albu, who also served as sparring partner in the absence of other sabre fencers in Brașov: the Olympic center was in Iași. He was also frustrated by a lack of money: his parents had to pay for his travel expenses and entrance fees when he began competition. He did not have dedicated fencing shoes either and wore out dozens of ordinary trainers on the piste. Marcin Krzysztof Koniusz (born 12 September 1983 in Sosnowiec) is a Polish sabre fencer. He won a total of four medals, including a silver in the individual event, at the European Fencing Championships (2003 in Bourges, France, 2004 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and 2005 in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary). The men's sabre fencing competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing took place on August 12 at the Olympic Green Convention Centre. There were 40 competitors from 21 nations. The event was won by Zhong Man of China, the nation's first medal in the men's sabre. Nicolas Lopez's silver put France back on the podium after a one-Games absence. Aldo Montano (born 18 November 1978) is an Italian fencer and a five-time Olympic medalist. He received a gold medal in sabre individual at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. On 11 October 2011, he won the gold medal at the World Championships in Catania, Italy. He won a silver medal in Men's team sabre at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Anna Limbach (born 22 July 1989) is a German sabre fencer. Anna Limbach is a German Sabre Fencer. She started fencing when she was four years old. She participated in her first World Championships by the age of 15 in South Korea. Since 2006 she has been a member of the senior German national team. Limbach won the German fencing championships 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2019 with the sabre team.
