Nicola Guerra
Nicola Guerra (2 May 1865, Naples – 5 February 1942, Cernobbio aged 76) was an Italian dancer, choreographer and ballet master. Trained in dance by a student of Carlo Blasis, he was '' primo ballerino'' in many Italian and foreign theaters and performed in New York in ''The Black Crook''. A dancer and ballet master at the Vienna State Opera (1896–1901), he directed the ballet of the Budapest Opera (1902-1915), then the Paris Opera Ballet (1927–1929) and finally the school dance of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (Rome Opera House) is an opera house in Rome, Italy. Cernobbio ( Comasco: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Como, Lombardy, northern Italy. Serge Lifar ( ua, Сергій Михайлович Лифар, ''Serhіy Mуkhailovуch Lуfar'') ( 15 December 1986) was a Ukrainian ballet dancer and choreographer, famous as one of the greatest male ballet dancers of the 20th century. Not only a dancer, Lifar was also a choreographer, director, writer, theoretician about dance, and collector. As ballet master of the Paris Opera from 1930 to 1944, and from 1947 to 1958, he devoted himself to the restoration of the technical level of the Paris Opera Ballet, returning it to its place as one of the best companies in the world. Léo Staats
Léo Staats (1877 - 1952) was a French dancer, choreographer and director. Life and career Léo Staats studied ballet with Francis Merante, a dancer at the Paris Opera, and reportedly made his debut in 1887. In 1908 he became Ballet Master at the Paris Opera. From 1926-28 he served as the first choreographer for shows at the Roxy movie palace in New York City. His choreography style was described as Neo-classical.
