Nicol Smith
Nicol Smith (25 December 1873 – 6 January 1905) was a Scottish footballer who played for Rangers. Born in Darvel, Ayrshire, Smith played as a fullback for local sides Vale of Irvine, Royal Albert and Darvel, earning junior international selection, before joining Rangers in 1893. He made only two league appearances in his first season at the club, but by 1893–94, he had established himself in the Rangers team, missing just one of the 18 league fixtures. During that season he was also responsible for bringing Alex Smith (who came from the same village but was not a relation) to the club, and the winger went on to become an important member of the side for the next 20 years. Smith was part of Rangers' first ever Scottish Cup win in 1894, playing in all six games, including the 3–1 final win over Celtic. Darvel
Darvel ( sco, Dairvel, gd, Darbhail) is a small town in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It is at the eastern end of the Loudoun, Irvine Valley and is sometimes referred to as "The Lang Toon" ( en, the Long Town). The town's Latin motto, , means "Not for ourselves, but for others". Location Darvel is situated on the A71 road that runs from Irvine on the west coast to Edinburgh on the east. The town is east of Kilmarnock and is the most easterly of the Irvine Valley Towns, the others being Galston, East Ayrshire, Galston and Newmilns. The town was once linked with Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, Stonehouse (via Strathaven) by the Caledonian Railway. However, the line was closed by the LMS before the Second World War. Jock Drummond
John Drummond (13 April 1870 – 24 January 1935) was a Scottish footballer who played as a left back for Falkirk, Rangers and the Scotland national team. Career Drummond joined Rangers from Falkirk (who had yet to join the Scottish Football League) in 1892. The 1893–94 Scottish Cup was the 21st season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The Cup was won by Rangers when they beat Celtic 3–1 in the final. List Of Scottish Football Champions
The Scottish football champions are the winners of the highest league in Scottish football, namely the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1890 until 1998, the Scottish Premier League (SPL) from 1998 until 2013 and the Scottish Premiership thereafter. The SFL was established in 1890, initially as an amateur league until professionalism in Scottish football was legalised in 1893. At the end of the first season Dumbarton and Rangers finished level on points at the top of the table. The rules in force at the time required that the teams contest a play-off match for the championship, which finished in a 2–2 draw, and the first ever championship was thus shared between two clubs, the only occasion on which this has happened. Jimmy Smith (footballer, Born 1911)
James Smith (24 September 1911 – 5 December 2003) was a Scottish professional footballer, who played for East Stirlingshire and Rangers. During his time at Rangers he scored 249 goals in 259 games. Club career Smith moved from East Stirlingshire to Rangers aged 17 in December 1928, having scored more than a goal per game in Scottish Division Two during his five-month spell at Firs Park, and made his professional debut against Hamilton Academical in March 1929. He was only selected twice in his first season at Ibrox and just once the following season, although he scored in that match, a 3–1 win against Dundee.
