The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards UK, also known as the KCAs, was an annual awards show, similar to the US and Australian versions. It originally started as a full ceremony hosted locally, but has recently been reduced to several UK-specific categories that are announced during the broadcast of the US Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards during time actually devoted to advertising. History 2007 Previous to 2007, the US ceremony aired with a tape delay on the network without local continuity. The first ever UK awards ceremony took place on 20 October 2007 from ExCel Exhibition Centre in London and hosting by McFly. Nickelodeon (commonly shortened to Nick) is a British pay television network aimed at children aged under 13. On 1 September 1993, a localised version of the US channel launched in the United Kingdom and launched at a later date in Ireland. In the United Kingdom, the channel is available on Sky, Virgin Media, and TalkTalk Plus TV. In Ireland, the channel is available on Virgin Media Ireland, Eir TV and Sky Ireland. It is the first Nickelodeon feed launched overseas. History Nickelodeon was launched in the UK on 1 September 1993 exclusively on Sky, originally airing for 12 hours and showing both cartoons and live action series. The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards (also known as the KCAs or Kids' Choice) is an annual American children's awards ceremony show that is produced by Nickelodeon. Usually held on a Saturday night in late March or early April, the show honors the year's biggest in television, film, music, and sports as voted by viewers worldwide of Nickelodeon networks. Winners receive a hollow orange blimp figurine, a logo outline for much of the network's 1984–2009 era, which also functions as a kaleidoscope. The show features numerous celebrity guests and musical acts. Since 2002, slime stunts have been incorporated into the show. The KCAs also host live entertainment. It has also been known to cover people with the network's trademark green slime. McFly are an English pop rock band formed in London in 2003. The band took their name from the '' Back to the Future'' character Marty McFly. The band consists of Tom Fletcher (lead vocals, guitar, and piano), Danny Jones (lead vocals, harmonica, and guitar), Dougie Poynter (bass guitar, vocals) and Harry Judd (drums). ''The X Factor'' is a British reality television music competition, created by Simon Cowell. Hadouken! are a British band formed in London in 2006 by singer, writer and producer James Smith and synth player Alice Spooner along with guitarist Daniel "Pilau" Rice, bassist Christopher Purcell and drummer Nick Rice.
