Nick Welch (British Army Officer)
Nicholas Welch, (born c. 1964) is a retrospectively dismissed British Army major general who served as the Assistant Chief of the General Staff. In March 2021 he became the highest ranked British officer to be convicted at a court martial in over 200 years. Military career Welch was commissioned into the Gloucestershire Regiment on 20 April 1984. His deployments included Berlin, Northern Ireland and Belize. Welch became commanding officer of the 1st Battalion, the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment in 2002 and, having been promoted to colonel on 30 June 2006, he became commander of 7 Armoured Brigade based in Bergen-Hohne, Germany in March 2009. ''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959. Bergen-Hohne Garrison was a major British garrison in the post-Cold War period, with facilities located close to Bergen, Lower Saxony, Bergen at ''Lager Hohne'', at ''Lager Oerbke'' near Bad Fallingbostel, Fallingbostel and at Celle in Lower Saxony, Germany. Allied Rapid Reaction Corps
The Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) is a North Atlantic Treaty Organization High Readiness Force (Land) Headquarters ready for deployment worldwide. History The ARRC was created on 1 October 1992 in Bielefeld based on the former I (British) Corps (I (BR) Corps). It was originally created as the rapid reaction corps sized land force of the Reaction Forces Concept that emerged after the end of the Cold War, with a mission to redeploy and reinforce within Allied Command Europe (ACE) and to conduct Petersberg missions out of NATO territory.
