Nick Setta
Nicholas Setta (born May 6, 1981) is a retired professional Canadian football placekicker and punter. He played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. High school Setta attended Lockport Township High School in Lockport, Illinois. While at Lockport High, he set the Illinois high school football record for longest field goal (59 yards). He also set the school record of 6'10" in the high jump, won 2 state titles as a member of the Lockport Porters cross country team, and won a state title in the 800m long distance run. College career Setta played four seasons (2000–03) at the University of Notre Dame where he successfully completed 46 of 66 field goal attempts, the second highest field goal total in Notre Dame football history. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. George Blanda, Lou Groza, Frank Gifford and Paul Hornung are prominent examples of players who were stars at other positions as well as being known for their kicking abilities.
