Nick Rathod
Nicholas Rathod is the founder and former executive director of the State Innovation Exchange, which was created and designed to build progressive power in state legislatures around the country, growing it from an idea to a multimillion dollar organization with more than 30 staff in 3 years. Prior to leading this organization, Rathod served as the director of state campaigns for Michael Bloomberg, Mayor Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety, where he oversaw legislative campaigns around gun control. Rathod also worked with Senator Elizabeth Warren to help build and establish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and later served as the Bureau’s Assistant Director, in charge of Intergovernmental and International Affairs. State Innovation Exchange
The State Innovation Exchange (SIX), formerly American Legislative and Issue Campaign Exchange (ALICE), is a nonprofit organization established in September 2012 by the Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The organization provides an online database of state-level legislation that has been passed in a state for politicians and activists to replicate and enact in state legislatures. SIX focuses on providing liberal and progressive model legislation. The nonprofit, nonpartisan organization is supported by government grants and foundations, but does not receive university funding, it is however a recipient of The Democracy Alliance. COWS receives formal support from the university in the form of tax status. 2022 Texas Gubernatorial Election
The 2022 Texas gubernatorial election took place on November 8, 2022, to elect the governor of Texas. Incumbent Republican Party (United States), Republican Governor Greg Abbott defeated the Democratic nominee and former U.S. Representative Beto O'Rourke to win reelection to a third term. All statewide elected offices are currently held by Republican Party (United States), Republicans. In his previous 2018 Texas gubernatorial election, gubernatorial race in 2018, Abbott won with 55.8% of the vote. The Democratic and Republican primaries were held on March 1, 2022. O'Rourke and Abbott won outright majorities in their respective primaries, and therefore did not participate in the May 24 runoffs. Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke ( , ; ; born September 26, 1972) is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for from 2013 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, O'Rourke was the party's nominee for the U.S. Senate in 2018, a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, and was the Democratic nominee for the 2022 Texas gubernatorial election. O'Rourke was born into a local political family in El Paso, Texas, and is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and Columbia University.
