Nick Pratto
Nicholas Michael Pratto (born October 6, 1998) is an American professional baseball first baseman for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022. Amateur career Pratto grew up in Huntington Beach, California, and played for their Little League Baseball team in the 2011 Little League World Series. Huntington Beach made it to the championship game against Japan, and Pratto hit a walk-off single to win the championship. In 2015, he played for Team USA at the 18-and-under Baseball World Cup. Pratto attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, for his first two years of high school before transferring to Huntington Beach High School in Huntington Beach. At Huntington Beach, he was teammates with Hagen Danner. As a senior in 2017, he hit .330 with nine home runs and 22 RBIs. Omaha Storm Chasers
The Omaha Storm Chasers are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. They are located in Papillion, Nebraska, a suburb southwest of Omaha, and play their home games at Werner Park, which opened in 2011. The team previously played at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium from 1969 to 2010. Omaha has been the only Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals since their inception in the 1969 Major League Baseball expansion. They were originally known as the Omaha Royals when established as a member of the Triple-A American Association in 1969. Signing Bonus
A signing bonus or sign-on bonus is a sum of money paid to a new employee (including a professional sports person) by a company as an incentive to join that company. They are often given as a way of making a compensation package more attractive to the employee (e.g., if the annual salary is lower than they desire). It also lowers the risk to the company as it is a one-time payment; for example, if the employee does not meet expectations, the company has not committed to a higher salary. 2017 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2017 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft began on June 12, 2017. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The first 36 picks, including the first round and compensatory picks, were broadcast on MLB Network on June 12, while the remainder of the draft was live streamed on MLB.com on June 13 and 14. With the worst record in the 2016 MLB season, the Minnesota Twins received the first overall pick. Compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2016 MLB Draft. Also, fourteen small-market teams competed in a lottery for additional competitive balance picks, with six teams receiving an additional pick after the first round, and eight teams receiving an additional pick after the second round. College Baseball
College baseball is baseball that is played on the intercollegiate level at institutions of higher education. In comparison to football and basketball, college competition in the United States plays a smaller role in developing professional players, as baseball's professional minor leagues are more extensive, with a greater history of supplying players to MLB. Moving directly from high school to the professional level is more common in baseball than in football or basketball. However, if players do opt to enroll at a four-year college to play baseball, they must complete three years to regain professional eligibility, unless they reach age 21 before starting their third year of college. Players who enroll at junior colleges (i.e., two-year institutions) regain eligibility after one year at that level. Hagen Jarrell Danner (born September 30, 1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He is ranked 17th on Major League Baseball's 2022 Top 30 Blue Jays prospects list. Amateur career In 2011, Danner played for Ocean View Little League, the team representing his hometown of Huntington Beach, California in the Little League World Series. Ocean View defeated the team from Hamamatsu, Japan, by a score of 2–1 to win the Little League World Series Championship. Huntington Beach High School (HBHS) is a public high school in Huntington Beach, California. Built in 1906, it is part of the Huntington Beach Union High School District. HBHS is a California Distinguished School. Huntington Beach High School is also the home of the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts. Campus Huntington Beach High School bell tower and auditorium were originally built in 1903 and were rebuilt in 1926. In July 2009, renovations were completed on the auditorium and the bell tower.
