Nick Picciuto
Nicholas Thomas Picciuto (August 27, 1921 – January 10, 1997) was an American professional baseball player who appeared in 36 games, mainly as a third baseman, in Major League Baseball as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. He amassed 12 hits, including six doubles, in 89 at bats, batting .135 with six runs batted in. He returned to the minor leagues in 1946 and retired from baseball after the following season. Minor leagues are professional sports leagues which are not regarded as the premier leagues in those sports. Minor league teams tend to play in smaller, less elaborate venues, often competing in smaller cities/markets. This term is used in North America with regard to several organizations competing in various sports. A run batted in (RBI; plural RBIs ) is a statistic in baseball and softball that credits a batter for making a play that allows a run to be scored (except in certain situations such as when an error is made on the play). In baseball, batting average (BA) is determined by dividing a player's hits by their total at-bats. It is usually rounded to three decimal places and read without the decimal: A player with a batting average of .300 is "batting three-hundred". If necessary to break ties, batting averages could be taken beyond the .001 measurement. In this context, .001 is considered a "point", such that a .235 batter is 5 points higher than a .230 batter.
