Nick Jordan (politician)
Nick Jordan (born 1949) is an American Republican politician who was formerly a member of the Kansas State Senate for the 10th District, which is centered on Shawnee, Kansas. He was also the unsuccessful Republican candidate for in 2008, losing to Democratic incumbent Dennis Moore. When Moore decided not to run for another term in 2010, Jordan briefly ran for the seat once again before dropping out. Jordan was nominated by Governor-elect Sam Brownback to serve as his Secretary of Revenue. His nomination was confirmed by the State Senate. Early life Jordan was born in 1949 and is a lifelong Kansan. Jordan started his career as a busboy, eventually becoming a hotel manager and founding president of the Overland Park Convention and Visitors Bureau. Bill Graves
William Preston Graves (born January 9, 1953) is an American former politician who was the 43rd governor of Kansas from 1995 until 2003. Career Graves was born in Salina, Kansas to parents who owned a trucking firm. After graduating from Kansas Wesleyan University with a business degree, he worked in human resources. In 1986, he was elected Kansas Secretary of State and in 1991, he was appointed as a representative of state governments to the Competitiveness Policy Council. He defeated Democratic Congressman Jim Slattery in the Republican sweeping elections of 1994 at the age of 41, and became one of the youngest governors in Kansas history. Dennis Moore (November 8, 1945 – November 2, 2021) was an American politician and lawyer, a "Blue Dog" centrist who served for six terms as a U.S. Representative for , from 1999 until 2011. He was a member of the Kansas Democratic Party. He and Sharice Davids have been the only two Kansas Democrats to serve in Congress since January 2009. Early life and education Moore was born in 1945 in Anthony in southcentral Harper County, Kansas.
