Nick Harris (offensive Lineman)
Nick Harris (November 13, 1998) is an American football center for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Washington and was drafted by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. College career Washington was the only school FBS to offer Harris a scholarship, and he committed on July 30, 2015, although Harris did receive offers from FCS teams New Hampshire and Cal Poly. He landed at Washington with JSerra Catholic High School offensive line teammate Luke Wattenberg. Harris earned a starting spot for part of his true freshman season and held it throughout his career at Washington. He played guard for his first two seasons, but switched to center before his junior season. He missed one game due to injury during his sophomore season and was named honorable mention all-Pac-12 his sophomore year, but was named first-team all-conference his junior and senior years at center. Center or Centre (C) is a position in gridiron football. The center is the innermost Lineman (American football), lineman of the offensive line on a football team's Offense (sports), offense. The center is also the player who passes (or "Snap (gridiron football), snaps") the ball between his legs to the quarterback at the start of each Play from scrimmage, play. The New Hampshire Wildcats football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the University of New Hampshire located in the U.S. state of New Hampshire. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional American football team based in Jacksonville, Florida. The 2020 Senior Bowl was an all-star college football exhibition game played on January 25, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. CST, at Ladd–Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. The game featured prospects for the 2020 draft of the professional National Football League (NFL), predominantly from the 2019 NCAA Division I FBS football season, rostered into "North" and "South" teams. It was one of the final 2019–20 bowl games concluding the 2019 FBS football season. It was sponsored by Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and was officially known as the Reese's Senior Bowl, with television coverage provided by NFL Network. The Dave Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best American football center in college football. Dave Rimington was a center who played at the University of Nebraska from 1979 to 1982. A member of the National College Football Awards Association, the Rimington Trophy serves as a fundraiser for the Boomer Esiason Foundation's fight against cystic fibrosis. In addition to recognizing the season's most outstanding center in college football, the Rimington Trophy also recognizes legendary centers from the past by presenting the President Gerald R. Outland Trophy
The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best college football interior lineman in the United States as adjudged by the Football Writers Association of America. It is named after John H. Outland. One of only a few players ever to be named an All-American at two positions, Outland garnered consensus All-America honors in 1898 as a tackle and consensus honors as a halfback in 1899. Outland had always contended that football tackles and guards deserved greater recognition and conceived the Outland Trophy as a means of providing this recognition. The Cal Poly Mustangs are the football team representing California Polytechnic State University located in San Luis Obispo, California.
