Nick Geiger
Nick Geiger (born 1952) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s. A Queensland state and Australia national representative , he played in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership for the Norths club and in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership for the Penrith Panthers. Whilst playing in the Brisbane Rugby League Premiership as the Norths side's , Geiger had just served a three-match ban for a late tackle when he was selected to represent Queensland in the first match of 1977's interstate series against New South Wales due to the absence of Test hooker John Lang with a knee injury. He went on to play in the second and final match of that year's series as well. Later that year Geiger also gained selection in Australia's 1977 World Cup team. Norths Devils
The Northern Suburbs Devils, or North Brisbane Devils, or often simply referred to as Norths for short, are a rugby league club representing the northern suburbs of Brisbane, Australia. The team colours are sky blue, navy blue and gold. They play in the Queensland Wizard Cup, and, through their predecessors, are one of the oldest clubs in Australia. Steve Martin (born 7 January 1957) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s, and coached in the 1990s. He was a representative player at both state and international levels and played in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition for Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, and the Balmain Tigers. Martin primarily played in the position. Playing career Martin was originally an Australian Rules footballer in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales but switched to rugby league with Wagga Wagga Kangaroos. He spent 1975–1976 playing for Barrow in English club football. He came to the notice of first-grade clubs in Australia when he represented Riverina in the 1976 Amco Cup competition. 1979 NSWRFL Season
The 1979 NSWRFL season was the 72nd season of Sydney's professional rugby league football competition, Australia's first. Twelve New South Wales Rugby Football League clubs competed for the J.J. Giltinan Shield and WD & HO Wills Cup during the season, which culminated in a grand final between the St. George and Canterbury-Bankstown clubs. NSWRFL teams also competed in the 1979 Amco Cup. Season summary Twenty-two regular season rounds were played from March till August, resulting in a top five of St. George, Parramatta, Cronulla-Sutherland, Western Suburbs and Canterbury-Bankstown who battled it out in the finals.
