Nick Frentz
Nick A. Frentz (born June 29, 1963) is an American politician and member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he represents District 19 in south-central Minnesota. Early life, education, and career Frentz was born on June 29, 1963, and grew up in Davis, California, where he graduated from high school. He is the son of a Mankato native. Frentz attended Macalester College, graduating in 1984, and William Mitchell College of Law, graduating in 1987. Frentz is a partner of Maschka, Riedy, Ries, and Frentz. Previously, he was a partner of Frentz and Frentz Law Offices, founded by his uncle and father, in Mankato. He is also a minority owner of Tandem Bagels, a local bakery and coffeehouse. Kathy Sheran
Kathleen J. "Kathy" Sheran (born May 18, 1947) is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), she represented District 19, which included portions of Blue Earth, Le Sueur, and Nicollet counties in the south central part of the state. Early life, education, and career Sheran is the daughter of Robert Sheran, who is a former chief justice and associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. She graduated from Convent of the Visitation School in Mendota Heights in 1965, then attended the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, receiving her B.S. in Nursing. She later earned her M.S. degree at Mankato State University (now called Minnesota State University). ''The Free Press'' is an American, English language daily newspaper published in Mankato, Minnesota. History On April 4, 1887, Editor L.P. Hunt published the first issue of the ''Mankato Daily Free Press'' and found it was not easy. In an apology to his readers, Hunt wrote "The labor incident to getting out the initial number of a daily paper is vastly more trying than people not familiar with newspaper work and worry are aware of or can be devised of. The fact, therefore, that today's ''Daily Free Press'' is decidedly short on telegraphic, as well as some other matter, is no exception to the perplexities experienced by newspaper men and we feel sure the public will bear with us a day or two until the 'mercheen' is fairly oiled and put in good running order." The 2016 Minnesota Senate election was held in the U.S. state of Minnesota on November 8, 2016, to elect members to the Senate of the 90th and 91st Minnesota Legislatures. A primary election was held in several districts on August 9, 2016. The election coincided with the election of the other house of the Legislature, the House of Representatives. Mankato ( ) is a city in Blue Earth, Nicollet, and Le Sueur counties in the state of Minnesota. The population was 44,488 according to the 2020 census, making it the 21st-largest city in Minnesota, and the 5th-largest outside of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. It is along a large bend of the Minnesota River at its confluence with the Blue Earth River. Mankato is across the Minnesota River from North Mankato. Mankato and North Mankato have a combined population of 58,763 according to the 2020 census. It completely encompasses the town of Skyline. Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party
The Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) is the Minnesota affiliate of the U.S. Democratic Party. As of 2022, it controls four of Minnesota's eight U.S. House seats, both of its U.S. Senate seats, the Minnesota House of Representatives, and all other statewide offices, including the governorship.
