Nick Brown (golfer)
Nicholas Hugh Brown (born 13 June 1950) is a British politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Newcastle upon Tyne East since 1983. A member of the Labour Party until his resignation in 2023, he sits as an independent in Parliament. He attended the Cabinet of the United Kingdom as Chief Whip from 1997 to 1998, and again from 2008 to 2010, and Agriculture Minister from 1998 to 2001. Brown is the fifth longest-serving MP in the House of Commons. He is also the longest-serving Labour Chief Whip, discontinuously holding the position under six leaders (Blair, Brown, Harman, Miliband, Corbyn and Starmer). Lilian Rachel Greenwood (born 26 March 1966) is a British Labour Party politician serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nottingham South since 2010, and the Opposition Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Commons since 2021. The Treasurer of the Household is a member of the Royal Household of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom. The position is usually held by one of the government deputy Chief Whips in the House of Commons. The current holder of the office is Marcus Jones MP. The position had its origin in the office of Treasurer (or Keeper) of the Wardrobe and was ranked second after the Lord Steward. The office was often staffed by the promotion of the Comptroller of the Household.
