Nichols House, Eltham
The Nichols House is a residential building designed by the Australian architect Kevin Borland. The construction was completed in 1973 and awarded the OPCD Bronze Medal for The Age/RAIA House of the Year together with Max May’s Rattle House at Harkaway in 1974. The project is a medium density development which shows many of Borland's architectural ideals regarding the configurations of how the modern family dwells in. These ideologies resulted in two major themes, a distinctive connection with the topography of the site and a creative approach to the ideas of family events happening in stages such as a theatre. James Nichols House
The James Nichols House is a historic house in Reading, Massachusetts. Built c. 1795, this -story gambrel-roofed house is built in a vernacular Georgian style, and is a rare local example of the style. The house was built by a local shoemaker and farmer who was involved in a religious dispute that divided the town. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Description and history The Nichols House is set on the east side of Pearl Street at its junction with Wakefield Street, in what is now a rural-suburban area of northern Reading, opposite Forest Glen Cemetery. Facing south, the -story wood-frame structure is five bays wide, with a large central chimney and a gambrel roof that slopes toward the back in a saltbox configuration. A "Beverly dodge" projection extends from the back half of the west side, with a shed-roof sloping to the rear. Doc Nichols House
The Doc Nichols House is an early 20th-century Colonial Revival mansion in eastern Durham, North Carolina off of North Carolina Highway 98. History The Doc Nichols House was built in eastern Durham at the turn of the century for Dr. Nichols, a local physician. The house, built in the Colonial Revival style, was completed in 1900. The original construction of the house consisted of a massive main block with a rectangular plan and an adjacent rear ell with a small doctor's office. The house has two corbelled brick chimneys on either side. The Marion Nichols Summer House is a historic house at 56 Love Lane in Hollis, New Hampshire, adjacent to the grounds of the Beaver Brook Association's conservation land. Built in 1935 for a wealthy widow, it is a locally rare example of a house built expressly as a summer residence. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. It is now monitored for historical compliance by the Beaver Brook Association.
