Nicholas St John
Nicholas St. John (by 1526 – 8 November 1589) was an English politician. The eldest son of Sir John St John of Lydiard Park, Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire, he succeeded his father in 1576. He was a Gentleman pensioner by 1552 to 1560. He sat on the Wiltshire bench as a Justice of the Peace from c. 1574 and was appointed High Sheriff of Wiltshire for 1579–80. He was a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Camelford in March 1553, Saltash in 1555, Cricklade in 1563, Great Bedwyn in 1571 and Marlborough in 1572. He married Elizabeth, the daughter of Sir Richard Blount of Mapledurham, Oxfordshire, with whom he had 3 sons and 5 daughters. He was succeeded by his eldest son, John. John St John (MP For Bedfordshire)
Sir John St John (by 1495 – 19 December 1558), of Bletsoe, Bedfordshire, was an English politician. He was the son of Sir John St John of Bletsoe and his wife Sybil, daughter of Rhys ap Morgan. He succeeded his father in 1525 and was knighted the following year. He was High Sheriff of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire for 1529–30, 1534–35, and 1549–50. He was a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Bedfordshire in 1529?, 1539 and 1542. Oliver St John, 1st Viscount Grandison
Sir Oliver St John, 1st Viscount Grandison (1559 – 30 December 1630) was an English soldier and politician who became Lord Deputy of Ireland. Early years He was the second son of Nicholas St John (ca. 1526 – 8 November 1589) of Lydiard Park in Wiltshire and Purley Park in Berkshire, by his wife Elizabeth (bef. 1542 – 1587), daughter of Sir Richard Blount of Mapledurham House in Oxfordshire, and Elizabeth Lister. His mother was distantly related to Charles Blount, 8th Baron Mountjoy, and on his father's side he was descended through a female line from the Grandisons, and was related to the St Johns, Barons of Bletso. He seems to have grown up mostly at Purley, and was educated at Oxford, matriculating from Trinity College on 20 December 1577, and graduating B.A. on 26 June 1578. Richard St George
Sir Richard St George (1550 – 1635) was a long-serving officer of arms at the College of Arms in London during the seventeenth century. Life He was the second son of Francis St George (d. 1584) of Hatley, Cambridgeshire. In 1575 he married Elizabeth, daughter of Nicholas St John of Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire. Elizabeth was a descendant of Margaret Beauchamp, grandmother to Henry VII. He was a collector of manuscripts and keen antiquary, associated with the Elizabethan Society of Antiquaries. He joined the College of Arms in 1602. During this year, he was unsuccessful in his bid to be appointed Norroy King of Arms, but he later became Berwick Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary and then Windsor Herald of Arms in Ordinary. In 1604, St George was finally able to secure an appointment as Norroy and was knighted in 1616.
