Nicholas John Cunliffe-Lister, 3rd Earl of Swinton (4 September 1939 – 21 March 2021), styled Nicholas Cunliffe-Lister from 1974 to 2006, was a British peer. The younger grandson of the first Earl, he became Earl of Swinton on the death of his older brother, the 2nd Earl, on 26 March 2006. Their father, Major Hon. John Yarburgh Cunliffe-Lister, the son and heir of Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Earl of Swinton, had been killed in action in 1943. __TOC__ Family Swinton's first wife was the Hon. It was created in 1955 for the prominent Conservative Party (UK), Conservative politician Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Earl of Swinton, Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Viscount Swinton. He had already been created Viscount Swinton, of Masham in the County of York, in 1935, and was made Baron Masham, of Ellington in the County of York, at the same time he was given the earldom. Born Philip Lloyd-Greame, he was the husband of Mary Constance "Molly" Boynton, granddaughter of Samuel Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Baron Masham. David Yarburgh Cunliffe-Lister, 2nd Earl of Swinton, JP, DL (21 March 1937 – 26 March 2006) was a British peer and politician. The Honourable Dame Elizabeth Susan Cunliffe-Lister, DCVO (''née'' Whitelaw; born 1944), commonly known by her middle name Susan, served as the Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire from 2005 until her retirement in 2019. Born in 1944, she is the daughter of the Conservative politician William Whitelaw, who was created Viscount Whitelaw in 1983. William Stephen Ian Whitelaw, 1st Viscount Whitelaw, (28 June 1918 – 1 July 1999) was a British Conservative Party politician who served in a wide number of Cabinet positions, most notably as Home Secretary from 1979 to 1983 and as ''de facto'' Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1988. Burton Agnes Hall
Burton Agnes Hall is an Elizabethan manor house in the village of Burton Agnes, near Driffield in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was built by Sir Henry Griffith in 1601–10 to designs attributed to Robert Smythson. The older Norman Burton Agnes Manor House, originally built in 1173, still stands on an adjacent site; both buildings are now Grade I listed buildings. Description The plan attributed to John Smythson presents a square block with bay windows and a small internal courtyard. Sledmere is a village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, about north-west of Driffield on the B1253 road. The village lies in a civil parish which is also officially called "Sledmere" by the Office for National Statistics, although the county council and parish council refer to it as Sledmere and Croome, as the parish also includes the nearby hamlet of Croome.
