Nichinan Station
is a train station in Nichinan, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by of JR Kyushu and is on the Nichinan Line. Lines The station is served by the Nichinan Line and is located 43.8 km from the starting point of the line at . Layout The station consists of a side platform serving a single track at grade. A disused platform stands to the east of the track. The station building is a modern steel frame structure which houses a staffed ticket window and a waiting area. A bike shed and parking are available at the station forecourt. JR Kyushu had planned to cease staffing the station. To maintain service to residents, the Nichinan City authorities took over the management of the ticket window as a kan'i itaku agent on 1 April 2015. See images of tickets sold. Nichinan Line
The is a railway line in south-eastern Kyushu, Japan, operated by Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu). It connects Minami-Miyazaki Station in Miyazaki, Miyazaki to Shibushi Station in Shibushi, Kagoshima. History The Miyazaki Prefectural Government opened the first section of the line from Obi - Aburatsu in 1913, the same year that the Miyazaki Light Railway was opened from the port of Miyazaki to Uchiumi. The lines were linked in 1932, and nationalised in 1935. The extension to Kitago opened in 1941, and to Shibushi (as a passenger only section) in 1963. Steam locomotives were withdrawn from the line in 1973. Freight services to Kitago ceased in 1982, and in 1990 the Shibushi station was relocated 100m closer to Miyazaki. Kan'i Itaku Station
A , sometimes abbreviated as , is a form of railway station in Japan which is operated by an entity other than the railway company using the station. These stations are commonly operated by the local municipality, an agricultural cooperative, a store in front of the station, or a private individual. Other than the entity operating the station, there is no difference to the passenger using the station. The station attendant generally sells passenger tickets through a ticket window and posts the train schedules, while the train conductor or driver handles collection and validation of tickets in most cases. Because the station attendant does not directly deal with the passengers outside of ticket sales, the types of tickets they can sell is generally limited to fare tickets and books of tickets. Nichinan, Miyazaki
is a city in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. The city was founded on January 1, 1950. As of June 1, 2019, the city has an estimated population of 51,241 and a population density of 95.6 persons per km2. The total area is 536.11 km2. History Nichinan began as part of the Fujiwara Shōen in the Heian period. The city's history and development were heavily influenced by the history of Obi town, a district of Nichinan which still exists today. Obi was one of the eight districts of Hyūga, an old province in eastern Japan, which was ruled by the Itō clan based at Obi Castle. Throughout the Sengoku period, the Itō clan's most serious rival was the neighbouring Shimazu clan. The Shimazu clan had unified Satsuma Province and Ōsumi Province under its control, and began to clash with the Itō clan in 1570. The Itō clan was finally defeated by the Shimazu clan in 1578.
