Nia Nia
Nia Nia is a village in the extreme west of Mambasa territory of Ituri province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is in the center of the Okapi Wildlife Reserve, a rich area of tropical rainforest, and can be reached only via roads that are often impassable throughout the rainy season. Ituri Province
Ituri is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning. Ituri, Bas-Uele, Haut-Uele, and Tshopo provinces are the result of the dismemberment of the former Orientale province. Mambasa Territory
Mambasa Territory is an administrative area in the Ituri Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The headquarters is in the town of Mambasa. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a multilingual country where an estimated total of 242 languages are spoken. Ethnologue lists 215 living languages. Swahili Language
Swahili, also known by its local name , is the native language of the Swahili people, who are found primarily in Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique (along the East African coast and adjacent litoral islands). Okapi Wildlife Reserve
The Okapi Wildlife Reserve is a wildlife reserve in the Ituri Forest in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, near the borders with South Sudan and Uganda. At approximately 14,000 km2, it covers approximately one-fifth of the area of the forest. In 1996, the Okapi Wildlife Reserve was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to its large population of endangered okapis and its high overall biodiversity. Ecology The wildlife reserve makes up roughly one-fifth of the total area of the Ituri Forest. As a Pleistocene refugium, the forest contains dense evergreen and semi-evergreen forests, dominated by ''Mbau'' trees (''Gilbertiodendron dewevrei''). Ndaka People
The Ndaka people (of Ndaaka) are an ethnic group of the northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, many of whom live in the Mambasa Territory of the Ituri Province Ituri is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning.
