Nguyễn Bình
Nguyễn Bình, born Nguyễn Phương Thảo (1906, Tien Tinh - 1951), was a Lieutenant-general in the Viet Minh. He was imprisoned by the French on the island of Poulo Condor in the early 1920s. He was sent by Ho Chi Minh in 1945 to establish a resistance to French rule in Cochinchina where he established his base of operations in the Plain of Reeds near Saigon. A former member of the Việt Nam Quốc Dân Đảng, he joined the Indochinese Communist Party in 1946. History According to Vietnamese historian Christopher Goscha, Nguyễn Bình was born in Hải Hưng Province in northern Vietnam, Nguyễn Bình came from a poor family. After finishing his primary schooling, he moved to Haiphong and then made his way to Cochinchina where he worked as a laundry boy and frequented the docks of Saigon, as well as worked on board the French liner 'd'Artagnan' of the Messageries Maritimes. Philippe Leclerc
Philippe François Marie Leclerc de Hauteclocque (22 November 1902 – 28 November 1947) was a Free-French general during the Second World War. He became Marshal of France posthumously in 1952, and is known in France simply as le maréchal Leclerc or just Leclerc. The son of an aristocratic family, Hauteclocque graduated from the ''École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr'', the French military academy, in 1924. After service with the French Occupation of the Ruhr and in Morocco, he returned to Saint-Cyr as an instructor. He was awarded the ''croix de guerre des théâtres d'opérations extérieures'' for leading ''goumiers'' in an attack on caves and ravines on Bou Amdoun on 11 August 1933. During the Second World War he fought in the Battle of France. Lê Văn Viễn
Major General Lê Văn Viễn (; 1904–1972), also known as Bảy Viễn ("Viễn the Seventh"), was the leader of the Bình Xuyên, a powerful Vietnamese criminal enterprise decreed by the Head of State, Bảo Đại, as an independent army within the Vietnamese National Army (''Quân đội Quốc gia Việt Nam''). Viễn's career trajectory was quite unique in coming from a criminal background to become a (non-Communist) leader of the Việt Minh's Zone 7, then later named a General, in charge of an auxiliary military force within the French Union, and, finally, named a General in the VNA. From 1951–55, he made arrangements with Bảo Đại, by which the Bình Xuyên was given control of their own affairs in return for their financial support of the government. Huỳnh Phú Sổ (; 15 January 1920 – 16 April 1947), popularly known as Đức Thầy (lit. "Virtuous Master") or Đức Huỳnh Giáo Chủ (lit. Virtuous ectFounder (ie Patriach) Huynh), was the founder of the Hòa Hảo religious tradition. The Hoa people (Vietnamese: ''Người Hoa'', or ) are citizens of Vietnam of full or partial Chinese origin.
