Ngoyla Faunal Reserve
The Ngoyla Faunal Reserve is a 1,566 sq km-large protected area, which is situated in the south-eastern part of Cameroon. It is an important shelter and corridor for the Congolian rainforests megafauna within the tri-national Dja Faunal Reserve, Dja-Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Odzala-Minkébé National Park, Minkébé protected area complex (TRIDOM). Description The Ngoyla Faunal Reserve was officially created by the MINFOF (Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife) in 2014 with the support of World Wide Fund for Nature, WWF. It is found in the south-central part of the Ngoyla-Mintom massif. The climate of the reserve is tropical with two wet and two dry seasons. The annual precipitation is in the northern, and in the southern area, the average annual temperature is due to the elevation (500-600 meters a.s.l.). The World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA) is the largest assembly of data on the world's terrestrial and marine protected areas, containing more than 260,000 protected areas as of August 2020, with records covering 245 countries and territories throughout the world. The WDPA is a joint venture between the United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring CentreUNEP-WCMC and the International Union for Conservation of NatureIUCN World Commission on Protected AreasWCPA. Data for the WDPA is collected from international convention secretariats, governments and collaborating NGOs, but the role of custodian is allocated to the Protected Areas Programme of UNEP-WCMC, based in Cambridge, UK, who have hosted the database since its creation in 1981.
