Ngong, Kenya
Ngong is a town near the Ngong Hills along the Great Rift Valley within Kajiado County, located in the southwest of Nairobi, in southern Kenya. The word ''"Ngong"'' is a Maasai word derived from the word "enkong'u' meaning "the 'eye' of water" or spring from where Rhinos came to drink water. Therefore, the original name of Ngong was "enchoro e'muny", meaning the spring of the rhinos. The Maasai also refer to a spring as the "eye" of water. A widespread false etymology is linked with the knuckle shape of the hills. The Ngong Hills, (known to the Maasai as 'Oloolaiser") from the eastside slopes, overlook the Nairobi National Park game reserve and, off to the north, the city of Nairobi. Nairobi–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway
The Nairobi–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) is the project of standard-gauge railway that should connect Kenya's capital city of Nairobi to Malaba, at the international border with Uganda. The Nairobi–Malaba SGR was to connect other standard gauge railways in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, under the East African Railway Master Plan. The KSh700 billion (US$7 billion) project, was to be built in phases. The only part built is the Nairobi–Naivasha section, which was inaugurated on 16 October 2019. The Naivasha–Kisumu Section was to follow and finally the Kisumu–Malaba Section to conclude the Kenya Standard Gauge Railway System. Paul Tergat
Paul Kibii Tergat (born 17 June 1969) is a Kenyan former professional long distance runner. He became the first Kenyan man to set the world record in the marathon in 2003, with a time of 2:04:55, and is regarded as one of the most accomplished long-distance runners of all time. Runnerworld called him the "Most comprehensive runner of all time". Towards the end of his career he concentrated exclusively on the marathon. Tergat set several world records and won many titles on the track, in cross country, and on the road. He lives and trains in Eldoret. Early life Paul Tergat was born on 17 June 1969 in Riwo, Baringo District, in Kenya's Rift Valley Province. He attended Riwo Primary school and later joined Kapkawa Boys High School. The Honourable Denys George Finch Hatton MC (24 April 1887 – 14 May 1931) was an English aristocratic big-game hunter and the lover of Baroness Karen Blixen (also known by her pen name, Isak Dinesen), a Danish noblewoman who wrote about him in her autobiographical book ''Out of Africa'', first published in 1937. Baroness Karen Christenze von Blixen-Finecke (born Dinesen; 17 April 1885 – 7 September 1962) was a Danish author who wrote works in Danish and English. She is also known under her pen names Isak Dinesen, used in English-speaking countries, Tania Blixen, used in German-speaking countries, Osceola, and Pierre Andrézel. Kitengela
Kitengela is a municipality in the Kajiado County of Kenya, located 50 Kilometres south of the capital Nairobi, forming part of the greater Metropolitan Area. Kitengela begun as The Kitengela group ranch, made up of 18,292 ha and 214 registered members which was subdivided in 1988 in efforts by the Government to encourage private land ownership in pastoral systems, with the aim of intensifying and commercializing livestock production. After subdivision of the group ranch, land fragmentation and sales have continued at a steady and escalating pace. Kiserian
Kiserian is a town in Kenya's Rift Valley Province, Kajiado county. Kiserian town is bordered by Ongata Rongai, Ngong Town, Enoomatasiani town and Kisamis town. It is located on the boundary between Kajiado North and Kajiado West constituencies. It lies at the foot of the Ngong Hills, along Magadi Road just adjacent to the Kiserian dam. Ongata Rongai (also known as Ronga in local slang) is a town located in Kajiado North, Kajiado County, Kenya.
