Neşe Karaböcek
Neş'ecan Göktürk (born 1 April 1947), better known as Neşe Karaböcek, is a Turkish singer and considered one of the main artists of Turkish Arabesque music, a fusion of traditional Turkish and world music influences and adaptations of international sounds. She also starred in a great number of Turkish films. She was popular from her first release for the single "Artık Sevmeyeceğim" until the mid 1990s with multiple gold and platinum certifications. Personal life She started singing at a very young age. Her marriage to musician Atilla Alpsakarya, owner and president of Elenor Plak, produced a son named Alper before they got divorced in 1974. She later married journalist Tevfik Yener with whom she had a second son Hasan. She is the sister of Gülden Karaböcek, another turkish singer. Arabesque (Turkish Music)
Arabesque ( tr, Arabesk) is a style of music created in Turkey. The genre was particularly popular in Turkey from the 1960s through the 2000s. Its aesthetics have evolved over the decades. Its melodies are influenced by espesically Arab Music, the music of Southeastern Europe and the Middle East, including bağlama music and Ottoman forms of oriental music. Arabesque music are mostly in a minor key, typically in the Phrygian mode, and themes tend to focus on longing, melancholy, strife and love issues. Description and history A very small percentage of Arabesque is exclusively instrumental. For the great majority of it, a singer lies at the center of the music. Male singers dominated the genre in its early years, but female singers probably predominated during its peak years of popularity. Gülden Karaböcek
Saniye Gülden Göktürk, better known as Gülden Karaböcek (born 4 November 1953) is a Turkish fantezi and arabesque singer. Life and career Early years and career beginnings Karaböcek is one of the first names in arabesque and fantasy music and has tried many styles during her music career but she has earned reputation primarily from her unique arabesque songs which feature fantasy elements. Born Saniye Gülden Göktürk, after completing her primary and secondary education in Ankara, she took singing and solfege lessons from Yaşar Aydaş at Ankara Radio. She came to Istanbul with her family from Ankara and completed her first records at the age of 14–15: "Yazılanlar Gelir Başa & Garip Kaldım". Famous artist Orhan Gencebay accompanied Karaböcek on this plaque, playing bağlama.
