Nezwaah
Nezwaah (foaled 25 February 2013) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse. Unraced as a two-year-old she showed promising form as a three-year-old when she won three races including the Listed Hoppings Stakes. She reached her peak in the first half of the 2017 season when she won the Rothesay Stakes before recording her biggest victory in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes. She raced in five countries, namely England, Ireland, France, Canada and the United States. Background Nezwaah is a bay mare with white socks on her front and back left legs bred in the United Kingdom by Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud. She entered the ownership of Sheikh Mohammed's brother Ahmed Al Maktoum and was sent into training with Roger Varian at Newmarket, Suffolk. The Hoppings Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in Great Britain open to mares and fillies aged three years or older. It is run at Newcastle over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs and 42 yards (2,050 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late June. It is named after the annual funfair which takes place each June on Newcastle's Town Moor, the original site of Newcastle racecourse before its move to Gosforth Park. The race was first run in 1999. The Pretty Polly Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Ireland open to thoroughbred fillies and mares aged three years or older. It is run at the Curragh over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs (2,012 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late June or early July. History The event is named after Pretty Polly, a successful filly foaled in Ireland in 1901. It was originally restricted to fillies aged three, but it was later opened to older horses. For a period it was classed at Group 2 level, and it was promoted to Group 1 status in 2004. The Pretty Polly Stakes was part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series from 2009 to 2012. Roger Varian
Roger Varian is a British Thoroughbred racehorse trainer, based at Carlburg Stables in Newmarket, Suffolk. Riding career Varian moved to the United States as a teenager and found employment as a work rider at Hollywood Park. On his return to the United Kingdom rode as a National Hunt jockey, mainly for the Josh Gifford stable, riding seven winners. He went back to the United States in 2001 for the Maryland-based Jack Fisher commenting that his riding career "needed a push forward". Less than two months after relocating to the United States, Varian sustained a serious wrist injury in a fall, ending his career as a jockey. Training career Varian returned to the United Kingdom and became assistant trainer to Michael Jarvis at the Kremlin House stable in Newmarket. Dubawi
Dubawi (foaled 7 February 2002) is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse and active sire. Background Dubawi is a bay horse with no white markings bred in Ireland by Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud. He was one of the only crop of foals sired by Dubai Millennium, an outstanding racehorse. His dam, Zomaradah was a top class racemare who won the Oaks d'Italia, E. P. Taylor Stakes, Premio Lydia Tesio and the Royal Whip Stakes. As a descendant of the broodmare Sunbittern, Zomaradah, who also produced the Lancashire Oaks winner Emirates Queen, was closely related to In the Wings, High-Rise and Virginia Waters. Caracolero
Caracolero (1971 – after 1987) was a Kentucky-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He showed some promise as a two-year-old in 1973, winning one of his three races, but was rated well behind the best of his year in France. In the following year he won the Prix Barneveldt and the Prix Matchem before establishing himself as one of the best European colts of his generation with an upset win in the Prix du Jockey-Club. He was injured in his only subsequent race and was retired to stud, where he had little success as a sire of winners. Real Quiet
Real Quiet (March 7, 1995 – September 27, 2010) was an American Champion Thoroughbred racehorse. He was nicknamed "The Fish" by his trainer due to his narrow frame. He is best remembered for winning the first two legs of American Triple Crown: the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. His loss in the third leg, the Belmont Stakes, was the smallest margin of defeat ever at only four inches. He was bred by Eduardo Gaviria, a Colombian proprietor of two stud farms: one near Bogotá in Colombia and another, Little Hill Farm, in Ocala, Florida, where Real Quiet was foaled. Majestic Prince (March 19, 1966 – April 22, 1981) was a Thoroughbred racehorse. One of the leading North American horses of his generation, he won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in 1969. Monterosso (foaled 2007) is a British-bred Thoroughbred racehorse. He was originally trained in Britain, where he won three handicap races and the King Edward VII Stakes as a three-year-old in 2010. Secreto
Secreto (1981–1999) was a Maryland-bred Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a career that consisted of only four races, he won three times. His most important success came in June 1984 when he won the Derby. Background Secreto was a small bay horse with three white socks sired by the great Northern Dancer. He was the first foal of his dam, the unraced Secretariat mare Betty's Secret, who was only three years old when Secreto was conceived. Betty's Secret went on to produce Istabraq, who won the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham's National Hunt Festival in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Secreto was bred by E. P.
