Nextmen
The Nextmen is a UK production/songwriting/DJ duo consisting of Dom Search (a.k.a. Dominic Betmead) and Brad Baloo (a.k.a. Brad Ellis). Often incorporating hip hop, drum & bass, dub, pop, soul and various other eclectic electronic and indie genres into their sounds, they have worked with many artists from the UK and US. Musical career The Nextmen have been remixers since 2000 working with Public Enemy, the Pharcyde, Blackalicious, Jeru the Damaja, Groove Armada, the Kooks, Fat Freddy's Drop, Rae & Christian, and many more. Their first official remix was for UK hip hop group London Posse on "Style", the Posse's last 12" single, in 1996. They have created a string of mixtapes (including 2004's Personal Golf Instructions), and perform two-man, four turntable DJ sets, often fronted by an MC (usually MC Wrec, Dynamite MC or Yungun) which include music from many genres. Dom Search (born Dominic Christian Betmead in Cambridge, England), also known as Dom Nextmen, is a record producer, songwriter, guitarist and DJ based in London. Personal life Born the youngest of two boys, he grew up in Cambridge, England with his mother and father, Gill and Jon Betmead and brother Saul. He is the grandson of Grimsby Town F.C. and England national football team, England footballer Harry Betmead. Dominic's father is a folk singer songwriter who was most active in the seventies and introduced his sons to music from birth. He lives in North London with his girlfriend and two daughters. Yungun
Yungun (a.k.a. Essa) is a British hip hop artist. He released his debut album ''The Essance'' on Janomi Records in 2004. He was born in North London where he currently works and resides. Bio He was educated at Eton College. He began his musical career as a host and MC on pirate radio station Parlay in Harrow during the mid-1990s. There he formed the group Dupa Styles with fellow MCs M.E. Moon and Devise. In 1998 Yungun made contact with Harry Love who began to play the role of Dupa Styles's DJ and Producer. Whilst still recording with the group, Yungun began a solo career, appearing on projects by LG & Lopez (''City Breaks''), Evil Ed (''The Art of Celebration'') Doc Brown (''Out There'') and Tommy Evans (''Four Horsemen'', ''Silent Mobius''). Dynamite MC
Dynamite MC (born Dominic Smith, 7 October 1973) is an English rapper and MC. He originally gained prominence in jungle/ drum and bass, working with Roni Size & Reprazent, but has also released hip hop material. Career He started his MCing career on pirate radio station Crush FM, broadcasting in Gloucester, South West England during the early 1990s. He met Roni Size in 1994 and began MCing for the Full Cycle crew. When the Bristol collective formed the live band Reprazent, Dynamite shared vocal duties with singer, Onallee. Their debut album ''New Forms'' won the Mercury Music Prize in 1997. Dynamite's role was enhanced for Reprazent's second album, the hip-hop influenced ''In the Mode'' (2000). The Kooks
The Kooks () are an English pop-rock band formed in 2004 in Brighton. The band consists of Luke Pritchard (vocals/rhythm guitar), Hugh Harris (lead guitar/synthesizer/bass) and Alexis Nunez (drums). Their music is primarily influenced by the 1960s British Invasion movement and post-punk revival of the new millennium. The Kooks have experimented in several genres including rock, Britpop, pop, reggae, ska, and more recently, funk and hip-hop, being described once as a "more energetic Thrills or a looser Sam Roberts Band, maybe even a less severe Arctic Monkeys at times". The Pharcyde (currently known as The Far Side) is an American alternative hip hop group, formed in 1989, from South Central Los Angeles. Rae & Christian are an English production duo, consisting of Mark Rae and Steve Christian. They are also founders of the Grand Central Records label. History In 1995, Mark Rae fulfilled a long-term dream by founding Grand Central Records in Manchester.
