Newton G. Munro
Newton Goodwill Munro (June 13, 1870 – July 21, 1949) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Pictou in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1937 to 1941. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Born in 1870 at Hopewell, Nova Scotia, Munro was a railway agent and stationmaster by career. He married Mary E. Shaw in 1895, and then Sylvia Keith. Munro served as mayor of Stellarton, Nova Scotia from 1923 to 1931. Munro entered provincial politics in 1937, when he was elected in the dual-member Pictou County riding with Liberal Josiah H. MacQuarrie Josiah H. MacQuarrie (November 12, 1897 – April 7, 1971) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. Hopewell, Nova Scotia
Hopewell is a village in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, in Pictou County. One of Canada's first automobiles was manufactured at Hopewell in 1980. "The Nick " was a two-passenger buggy with iron tires, chain drive, and tiller steering. Hopewell lies tucked in the valley of the East River, outside the towns of Stellarton and New Glasgow (TCH 104 Exit 24 and south on 374 out of Stellarton). Wolfville
Wolfville is a Canadian town in the Annapolis Valley, Kings County, Nova Scotia, located about northwest of the provincial capital, Halifax. The town is home to Acadia University and Landmark East School. The town is a tourist destination due to its views of Cape Blomidon, the Bay of Fundy and Gaspereau Valley, as well as its wine industry. The Nova Scotia Liberal Party is a centrist provincial political party in Nova Scotia, Canada and the provincial section of the Liberal Party of Canada. The party currently forms the Official Opposition in Nova Scotia, under the leadership of Zach Churchill. The party was in power most recently from the 2013 election until the 2021 election. Stellarton, Nova Scotia
Stellarton is a town located in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. It is adjacent and to the south of the larger town of New Glasgow. In pioneer times the area was called Coal Mines Station, and from 1833 until 1889, it was known as Albion Mines. The town was incorporated as Stellarton in 1889 and owes its name to a specific type of torbanite which came to be known as "stellarite" because of the "stars of fire" given off by its sparky flame. History In the 1790s, coal quickly became a key focus of the local economy. The Foord coal seam (from which the main street of Stellarton derives its name) runs through most of the town and is part of the greater Stellarton Basin/Pictou Coalfield. Josiah ( or ) or Yoshiyahu; la, Iosias was the 16th king of Judah (–609 BCE) who, according to the Hebrew Bible, instituted major religious reforms by removing official worship of gods other than Yahweh. Josiah is credited by most biblical scholars with having established or compiled important Hebrew scriptures during the "Deuteronomic reform" which probably occurred during his rule.
