Newshour
''Newshour'' is BBC World Service's flagship international news and current affairs radio programme, which is broadcast twice daily: weekdays at 1400, weekends at 1300 and nightly at 2100 (UK time). Each edition lasts one hour. It consists of news bulletins on the hour and half hour, international interviews and in-depth reports of world news. The BBC World Service considers it one of their most important programmes. In 2011 it was kept as one of four key outlets, despite severe cutbacks. It is also broadcast in the United States on various American Public Media stations. The programme is broadcast live from Broadcasting House in London. It covers the major news of the day, often interviewing heads of state and government ministers. History The programme was first broadcast in 1988. Timothy Henry Franks (born 14 May 1968) is a British journalist and radio presenter who presents '' Newshour'', the flagship news and current affairs programme on BBC World Service radio. He also, from time to time, presents ''Hardtalk'' on BBC World News, and documentaries across BBC TV and radio. He was previously an award-winning foreign correspondent for the BBC. James Menendez
James Menendez is a British journalist and radio broadcaster working for BBC News, BBC World Service, and BBC World News. Menendez is one of the main presenters of '' Newshour'' on the BBC World Service. Career Menendez joined the BBC as a trainee reporter in 1995. Robin Lustig
Robin Francis Lustig (born 30 August 1948, London) is a British journalist and radio broadcaster, who has presented programmes for the BBC World Service and BBC Radio 4. Family Lustig was born in Stoke Newington, London, to Jewish refugees. Fritz, his father, who had fled from Germany in 1939, was in the intelligence corps and a clandestine listener to German prisoners of war. His mother, the former Susan Cohn, met his father at Wilton Park where they were both stationed during the second world war. "She did clerical work", the elder Lustig told ''The Jewish Chronicle'' in 2012, adding "women did not listen in – only men did". James Coomarasamy
James Coomarasamy is a British presenter of the BBC Radio 4 evening programme ''The World Tonight'' and the flagship '' Newshour'' programme on the BBC World Service. Before joining ''Newshour'' in 2010, Coomarasamy spent a year presenting the now defunct programme '' Europe Today.'' Razia Iqbal
Razia Iqbal (born 1962) is a journalist employed by BBC News. She is a special correspondent, reporting for outlets across the BBC. From 2011 Iqbal has also presented ''Newshour'' on the BBC World Service. She has also presented ''Talking Books'' on the BBC News Channel. She was previously the corporation's arts correspondent. Max Pearson (born 1959) is a BBC journalist and news presenter with the BBC World Service, best known as one of the presenters of '' The World Today'' and ''Newshour''.
